As a paying student at Southern University of New Orleans my concerns are about my fees. I pay for a library fee which I do not fully have because the resources are limited and when classes are being held because it doesn't have space i am unable to attend. I pay for lab fees which we do not have and gym fees which we do not have I can go on about the fees I pay as a student and the many resources we do not have but yet have to pay for. I believe this is unfair and I really feel that something should be done because the students graduating from Southern University of New Orleans are the future.

Hi Keisha,
Forgive me for the typo's I was in a hurry to reply, I had to pick my daughter up from school. However, I did a quick Google on SUNO. Here are just a few things that have taken place since Dr. Ukpolo has taken over as Chancellor:
1. January 2014: The state approved SUNO to pursue their first Doctorate in Social Studies.
2. January 2014: SUNO breaks ground for Small Business Incubator.
3. May 2013: SUNO gets ONLY Forensic science Program in the state.
4. May 2013: SUNO and UNO sign Engineering degree agreement.
5. April, 2013: West bank Campus comes aboard.
6. November 2012: SUNO gets 5.4 million to repair buildings.
7. Sept 2012: SUNO gets 2.6 million for buildings.
8. Feb 2012: College of Business Ground Breaking.
9. Feb 2012: SUNO hits 94% of pre-Katrina enrollment. (FYI UNO is only at 55% of their pre-Katrina enrollment).
Please note that while it has been stated that Dr. Ukpolo only cares about enrollment, enrollment is what keeps a school open.
10. November 2012: College of Business becomes Accredited for the first time in history.
11. May, 2011: SUNO-UNO merger proposal dies in Legislature.
12. May 2011: SUNO reaccredited by SACS.
13. June 2008: SUNO gets 44 million to build dorms.
Also, if you/students are unhappy about the dorms, you should ask that the person in charge of housing be removed. It is that person's job to ensure students are happy with their living accommodations.
If you are unhappy about your professors, it is our/students responsibility to write bad evaluations on them. Remember, most are tenured which means it's almost impossible to get rid of them. Not sure how Chancellor Ukpolo can be blamed for that.
If you are not happy about classes being cancelled, are you preregistering for classes? There has to be a certain number of students in each class in order for a class to make.
As far as the Chancellor being disrespectful, I wonder if the students have not

Thank you for your comments. I am referring to the merger in 2011. Once again, people are saying information without getting the facts. This is how mis-information gets out. Maybe you need to review your own last sentence.

Also, I would start a Keep Chancellor Ukpolo petition, but most people don't care about this mess SGA is trying to start up. Join me and creating a petition to get rid of our SGA President and vice president. We need people with common sense, not people with their own hidden agenda. I thought we had gotten pass this. SMH

I can't believe you all are trying to get rid of the best chancellor SUNO has every had. This man is the reason the campus is back. May I remind you of how they tried to close SUNO down but he fought everybody and won. Do I have to remind you how we wanted dorms and he got them for us? Have you forgotten that we were under 11 feet of water and that it takes time to rebuild. After reading your concerns, I'm embarrassed for us. The only petition we need right now is to get rid of our SGA. I don't know who is feeding them this foolishness, but it is apparent they cannot think for themselves. I say us other SUNO people who understand growth, handwork, and WORKING with the state for improvements create a petition to get rid of our current SGA. It is apparent they don't care about the institution, could it be they don't like the Chancellor because he's not from New Orleans? I would hate to think that way, but people do say things when they think everyone agrees with them. I'm just saying. KEEP CHANCELLOR UKPOLO HE'S WHAT SUNO NEEDS.
