If our Council insist on submitting to special interests out of fear for reputations or from personal opinions then they are violating Code of Conduct and Effective Governance. If they insist on acting as community censures, then remove and prohibit any marker or monument on public property. Start with ANY monument and proceed to street renaming. Since tax dollars are funding aquatics on school property, insist on renaming of Jefferson. No more City observances of MLK, Washington, or Columbus holidays.

Grew up in Cape Girardeau. Sad to see such a sad group that wants to only remove history that suits the current political climate. Well remove it all. I find the current group a sad excuse of f individuals. Hope the next election puts each one a status of history. Let them soon be forgotten

Then remove all statues in Cape...would't want to see anyone offended by any of the others, even though this removal offends me!! History is history you cannot say it didn't happen. Communism here we come. You people better open your eyes before it's too late and this country cannot be turned around!!

Our ancestors fought a battle over the federal government dictating what states can do it turned into a slavery issue 3 years later if we are getting rid of Confederate statues then let's go all out union soldiers m l k statues and street names you can't have one sided views without the cost of freedom

I also believe history should not be destroyed,tampered with- on July 7th,2020- 5 people decided this about the CSA monument? What is wrong with that picture? So, lets remove it,and make it look like" Those Who FOUGHT, DIDNT DIE for others? God&Country,,save us!

I don't believe the history that has brought us here should be removed it should be embraced.... It's history... As far as what is going on in this day I really wish different I think the world has gone nuts and I don't believe in what all is going on I love the black Americans just as much as the white we all should be one of the same.... We need to fight the fight together we all put our jeans on same way... We all deserve our rights!!!!!
