Over the years Bairnsdale has seen some tough old school Police Officers that have kept the community in line. For the most part they were fair & just.
In recent times over the last 12-36 months we have seen the introduction of a select few ‘out of town’ new school Police Officers brought in to the Bairnsdale Community who have come from the city.
These officers have no idea how to integrate their policing skills into a regional country town and how to adjust their work habits to make a positive impact within the community rather than a negative impact which is what is currently happening.
Consistently targeting and fining locals for very minor issues or infractions such as; driving with fog lights on, not indicating for long enough and another instance where a local was travelling 10kmh under the speed limit and was threatened with a licence revision, all while it’s not uncommon for these 2 officers to block lanes of traffic and obstruct traffic while performing basic intercepts.
It is obvious these 2 officers are stereotyping and classifying people and vehicles in regard to how they appear/present and targeting them on this basis
These officers in question are causing unrest & angst in our community due to their constant intimidation & harassment of our local people of Bairnsdale.
It is a general consensus that locals were a lot happier before their arrival, and we now want them gone from the Victoria Police Highway Patrol or very least removed from our tight knit town.
One of the officers in question has also been the subject of racial inclusion with recent photos of him sporting a racial stubby cooler while drinking on a boat. The stubby holder refers to spraying the local indigenous people with VicPol pepper spray; Labelled the Bairnsdale Handshake.
They’re not fair or reasonable and show no discretion; the officers we (the community) would like to see removed are:

And just to be clear for the people against this petition; this wouldn’t be a thing if these 2 weren’t so ‘gun ho’ and showed a bit of compassion when dealing with people instead of just raising revenue and boosting their numbers for personal promotion within VicPol. They’re not here FOR us they’re here AGAINST us!
They run a ‘do as I say, not as I do mentality it’s corrupt and they need to lead by example
This is not an attack on VicPol . It is directly intended to be a community voice to request there public servants stand down or be stood down from Highway Patrol & reassigned new duties; Reflecting their tyrant attitude towards the Bairnsdale Community in regard to road policing.

The amount of people coming forward with similar stories is overwhelming and it confirms that this is not just my personal experience. This campaign is draining but seeing this level of community recognition keeps me moving forward against the daily frustration.

Ash Bowden has caused lots of upset for us personally. I put an official complaint for excessive force and after investigation nothing went further. He is a bully and has to go
I've been targeted. They see me they put foot down and come after me.. even chased me up my own drive way. I just found out your not loud to do breath testing on people's front door steps

Yes i have come across bouden he is the most disrespectfull and rude person i have come across and that was at a road block,trying to get through to fight fires at tambo crossing
There is nothing wrong with doing your job. There is something extremely wrong with making light of using pepper spray or whatever it is used a lot of the time unjustly against a minority population, especially since the whole nature of the police force is to look after everyone in the community. These two officers need to learn what a country community is, back in the day the like of them used to disappear well before they made an entire community rise up against them. Sure the government lost lots of money making stupid decisions, this is a small mostly poor community, using city cops to make your money back won’t work for one and will definitely work against you in the future.
