  1. The D303 community asks the St. Charles D303 School Board Members, Mrs. Barker, Mrs. Fairgrieve, Mr. Lackner, Mr. McNally, Mrs. Bell and Mrs. McCabe, to publicly censure and remove Board Member Ms. Carolyn Waibel from the D303 School Board. According to Policy 2:60 Board Member Removal From Office, “If a majority of the School Board determines that a board member has willfully failed to perform his or her official duties, it may request the Regional Superintendent to remove such member from office.”
  2. Ms. Carolyn Waibel’s actions at the board table and in the media violated Policy 2:220 (School Board Meeting Procedure), 8:10 (Connection with the Community), and Approved Board Agreements 5/11/20 (Sections: Speaking with One Voice, Communicating with the Media, Agenda Development and No Surprises).The violations are as follows:
    1. Ms. Waibel spoke for the whole board at a meeting and in the media;
    2. Ms. Waibel personally and individually furthered board action to administration without consent from a board vote;
    3. Ms. Waibel verbally attacked the public twice: On January 11, 2021 she accused the public of “harassment” of board members and on June 21, 2021 accused the D303 community of “systemic prejudice, bias judgment, and racism”.

    3. Requested the full written statement from Ms. Waibel read by President Barker at the Special Board Meeting on 6/28/21.

We are duty bound by oath and our humane ethics to take care of our students. We have a systemic problem of prejudice, conscious and subconscious bias, judgment and racism that runs deep through humankind, students, parents, community alike. This cannot be addressed with "hand slaps" to teachers and students. We must give the opportunity for the voice for those who feel unsafe, uncomfortable, and unable to learn in the education system we provide. We need to provide a forum for that now-by the fall-whether it be mediated by an outside mental health service, professional mediation or equity team. There is no nefarious agenda, caring for our fellow human, the goal is kindness, safety, community values; all those values we are held to a higher power. Those values and morals we MUST make a priority if we hope to ascend as a species. If we do not act now to hear the cries of the children, we fail at our job. And you as parents fail at yours.
