As you're driving to California from Las Vegas, or vice versa, you know it's infamous for the beautiful dry lake bed. As your driving in, you look out to the bare, raw, desert. Well, not anymore... "Artist" Ugo Rondinone’s two-year installation, “Seven Magic Mountains,” has changed that.

The desert is already beautiful. Painted rocks cheapen the experience I think. Would the standing stones of Stone Henge be better or more appealing if they were painted day-glow orange and yellow?

I am a Nevada resident who travels back and forth to California quite often. I cringe every time I pass this. I have no problem with art, I do have a problem when it is glaringly out-of-place plopped down somewhere it doesn't belong. The desert itself is perfect beauty , every night the desert sky becomes the canvas and the sunset becomes the brush, that's all the art that we need in the desert. This thing doesn't belong there..

This thing is so ugly and out of place. Cars stop suddenly and pull over. Someone is going to get killed!

As a biologist and nature lover, I find these colored giant cairns to be complete trash in the beautiful desert.
