UC Removal of Principal Hagstrom from Walt Disney School

Disgrace.

I wrote a complaint against Disney Magnet school and Principal Hagstrom when my daughter was 4 yr old in pre-school. My daughter was having issues and no one told me that I could or should have her evaluated. My daughter’s teacher was encouraging and kept saying well tomorrow is another day. But when Principal Hagstrom encountered my daughter having issues in the hallway. The principal has my daughter expelled from the pre-school program. My daughter is African American and she has two mother’s. When CPS investigated the incident, a police officer who investigates for CPS called me and spoke on the phone with me for less then 5 minutes and the incident was dropped by CPS. But my daughter was offered her spot at preschool back. The principal was inappropriate with my daughter. Read my original complaint with CPS for particulars. I can add more or give you my original report if you want it or need it.

Dr. Hagstrom and another teacher during a conference with my Dad told us that I wouldn’t succeed in life based off my performance in 7th grade. They were definitely wrong, and I have two amazing careers. You’re supposed to encourage young minds. Not bring them down when their most impressionable.

Confused. There is no mention of your elected Local School Council (LSC). Your LSC evaluates the principal every year and renews her contract every four years. Spring 2020 is election time for all CPS LSC's so start planning.

I approved this petition. I used to attend Disney. I’m not surprised by the disrespect comments that she acted around her peers.

Her behavior is unacceptable and without a doubt warrants her removal from the role as principal.

This principal was horrible to my brother when he taught there. He is an award winning teacher! She should’ve been gone YEARS ago!

Absolute abuse of power...

She is truly a poor administrator. She bullies and picks favorites. Children are not her priority. She should be removed. She should have been removed 13 years ago.

I’m no longer there, but it is sad to say that this stuff is all true.

She needs to leave. Enough is enough. Let the younger generation take over to build a more inviting school. Not one that discriminates.

I have heard about these type of issues with the principal and my kids don’t attend the school, my son attended pre school there.

She abuses children, a little kid was running to their parents after the cac show and she grabbed them by their hand and yeled at them no to run

As a former student at Disney I along with many of my peers felt like slaves. She had us greet her whenever she entered a room as if she was our master. She had us stand in straight lines as if we were shackled at our ankles. That racist ignorant old lady has created a negative image of herself throughout Chicago. At a summer program I attended and at my current school (that is private) my teachers know of her and not in a good way. She has mistreated people of many backgrounds who was nothing but kind to her. I wish I could go back to Disney just to slap her because she deserves it. Maybe it will make her realize what she has been doing is disgusting.

Should and will not be tolerated any longer

Principal Hagstrom Has gone above and beyond to display her discriminating feelings, she believes she is above and beyond everyone who are not of her color or her race, she has no respect for the parents or students, her attitude when she speaks is demeaning and intimidating to the children, she has managed to overstep her authority excessively and Me and My Family have had enough, I ask the Disney community to stand together and be rid of this TIRANT!!! We want a Principal that will bring all the Disney community together so that our Children will learn in a decent welcoming environment and parents can speak openly on how they feel about their children’s education.
