I don't know Paul, so i'm not going to sign. However, it does appear that every time I see his name - which is often - it usually pertains to him having pissed someone off.

My issue does not involve Paul's opinion on the Confederate Naval Jack. My issue is more with Paul's disrespect and intimidation tactics that he uses towards other alumni and CAA members. He is entitled to his opinion as we all are, but not under the title of CAA VP. And for those that have received private messages from Paul after disagreeing with him on a public page, we can attest to his demeanor. His leadership is toxic.

Shame on paul for using this horrific event to push a political agenda. This was gross poor judgement by his part, and he should suffer the consequences of his actions. The naval jack is not being flown in the chapel to condone racism, but to serve as a reminder of the graduates from our storied past whom paid the ultimate sacrifice for their state. While arguing why the Civil War was fought can produce many different arguments, including slavery, it is not what the naval jack flag represents. How dare paul request the removal of the flag stating that it stands for oppression and promotes hatred. This is political correctness plain and clear. If Paul were have his request granted, it would only infringe upon the liberties that we were granted to us by our forefathers and by those who served and continue to serve this great nation.

As a member of the Class of 2013 and Life Member of The Citadel Alumni Association, I have seen Mr. Tamburrino display nothing other than disrespect and disregard to those who do not fall in line behind him or share his viewpoint. Without provocation, he has attacked me personally on one of the various alumni social media pages. He leaves much to be desired with regards to leadership and neither fosters, nor inspires any since of brotherhood or camaraderie among alumni.

As a member of the Class of 1999 and a Life Member of The Citadel Alumni Association I request that Mr Paul Tamburrino be required to step down from his position as the Vice President of the CAA. He is a toxic personality who has routinely displayed immature, vulgar, and unprofessional behavior on both social media and at Alumni events. I do not consider him a good steward of the CAA nor of the reputation of our school. I have lost all confidence in his ability to discharge the duties of this post, he must be replaced.

I thought Paul would represent us well and voted for him. Clearly, his liberal "PC" views do not align with my views, nor my love of my Alma mater. Where do you draw the line on being politically correct? Today, the line is drawn that we should remove a historic flag. What is it tomorrow? Do we remove from the front of Summerall Chapel the names of our brothers who gave their lives defending our nation against terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq because some group opposes the war and finds this honor / remembrance offensive? When do we say enough? I am deeply disappointed in Paul's decision and comments. Unfortunately, with regret, I can no longer support Paul.

His latent disregard for what that flag stands for as it pertains to The Citadel leads us to this only recourse. The Naval Jack represents what the Corps of Cadets sacrificed such as in the Battle of Tulifinny where we stood as one against a foreign adversary.

Paul is a good alumnus and has good intentions but he lacks tact, poise, and an ability to articulate without attacking. His views he is entitled to but he represents the Gray Line and has not grasp that role

History is something to be proud of. I will not act embarrassed and attempt to forget the past. That flag and the battle streamers are a part of that institutions history and I will not stand for it to be forgotten.
