As a resident of Hout Bay the incidents of violence and intimidation during the recent 4 days of "peaceful protests" was absolutely unacceptable. The response from the HB police station commander re the situation was appalling to say the least. It leads me to believe that as a law abiding citizen SAPS offers me no protection when laws of the country and civil society are flouted.

If it were only one or two complaining of "ignored" pleas of help, one could maybe say it was the chaos of the situation that had this impact. However, this is not the case, which is unacceptable. The police are there for our protection and are supposed to come to our aid when we are in trouble. To be told "speak to the mayor" as a response is truly astounding!

SAPS - there to protect and serve everyone in the community and not absolve themselves by deflecting up to the mayor. If they do they are unfit to serve.

Glad the police were safe and allowing criminal activity , while my house was petrol bombed by criminals they condone and protect- disgusting and disgraceful behavior - Hout Bay SAPS clearly condone this behavior and told us to phone Patricia

SAPS are supposed to be apolitical in serving their community. Her response to the calls for help from the residents of Penzance was appalling

Saps response was very disappointing. I haven't seen one official response from Saps on the recent looting and criminal damage during the riots even, nor any Police vehicles even when a house in my neighbourhood got petrol bombed. I would expect the Station Commander to have taken a hard line to what was essentially happening outside her police station. I hope there is an Ipid investigation to determine whether police acted purposefully.
