Please put a stop to this required "book" that is really more of a propaganda tool to inspire hate and racism.

The fact that this book exists is not the problem. The fact that it is a required read for 10-13 year old children is completely unacceptable and heartbreaking.

This book clearly violates state policy and has subject matter that should not be required for sixth graders to read.

This book violates the anti CRT rules for the State. In addition to that it is offensive and inappropriate for school children of any age.

I do not find any benefit, and certainly nothing educational, by having my 6th grade son read this book. I believe it’s fine if someone want to read this book on there own time, but there is very little evidence of any educational benefit to having this book be included in required reading in a school curriculum.

While an excellent work, this book is not appropriate for instruction at the 6th grade level.

Just ridiculous that our schools want to promote hate! We will never move on as a society with things like this continuing to arise. Disgusted with the school board!

Books should be rated, like movies. This book would be rated MATURE and should never be in Public School libraries.

We should not avoid discussing the racism of our nation's past. It is important that we learn from our past, but this book has the wrong approach. Instead of educating and pointing us toward unity, it encourages racism. A human is not evil simply because of the color of their skin or the county they live.

Books should be rated the same as movies. Due to profanity, violence and mature topics; this book would be rated for MATURE audiences and should not be available for children in Blount County Public Schools.
