North Tyneside Council (without consultation from local residents) have implemented a Biodiversity area on the thoroughfare of Holystone estate of which housing on Carlisle Close, Carlisle Way and Aidan Close border.
As a result of overgrown grasses this has led to increased hayfever and allergic Conjunctivitis amongst neighbouring residents, resulting in time off work or school. Young children resident in these streets, have also lost the only safe play area in which they enjoyed together.
Quality of life for residents has been reduced.
This petition seeks removal of the Hoystone thoroughfare from the Biodiversity plan and reinstatement of regular grass cutting with immediate effect.

All for conservation but not in the middle of a housing estate where children play. Grass pollen is one of the worst for hayfever suffers..
Fao 'The Great Valerio', do a petition yourself if you feel so strongly about the parking and speed of cars, however it that was me, I would have knocked on their door and spoke to them face to face. Unfortunately I couldnt do that with the council but did get our local councillors backing hence the grass now cut. Action speaks louder than words. Happy to sign a petition as im not in disagreement just that this was causing an immediate health problem in our household.

Does the campaign continue until all the grass surrounding the 'neat estate' is cut (because cut grass is okay seemingly. Clue: it's just as bad if not worse) or is it just the bits near the signatories' houses we're talking about? How about the nearby fields? What about the pollen from the gardens? Or does pollen not travel on the wind. This is such an ignorant, lame campaign and frankly it appears to be more concerned about the look of wildflowers and grasses growing naturally. I don't like the look of some gardens. I certainly do not like the look of paved-over of gardens. It's appalling that these concerns seem to be more important than the idiots who park irresponsibly and continue to drive at dangerous speeds threatening the lives of our children. Get behind some real issues instead of this subjective nonsense. Unless you're one of the culprits of course; in which case look out for a new petition. I fully expect this to be deleted along with my previous objections. Democracy in action.
As a Asthma sufferer i think this is crazy and what do we pay are council tax for?

I have nevered suffered from hayfever until now, I work in Gateshead and do not have any symptoms during the day but when i get home (holystone) I start to have serious hayfever symptoms.My wife is also suffering badly due to this,it even had an effect on our recent holiday abroad as the symptoms took several days to clear.Please start cutting the grass and stop this nonesense.
