My son Erik Kubas commited suicide on Sept. 6, 2009 at the age of 15 years old. He was a bright wonderful kind loving boy. Erik had some problems and he thought that committing suicide was his only way out. Erik went to North Star High School in Boswell, Pa. He played football and was a wonderful Student. We asked that Erik be remembered like any other student who passes away. They usually get a full page dedicated to them. Well we were told no at first cause they said they do not memorialize suicide. We were not asking them to memorialize suicide we were asking them to remember Erik. Well I got a phone call from the art teacher and he e-mailed me what they were gonna do for Erik. They were gonna put it in the advertisements in the back of the yearbook in an ad about 1 inch by 1 inch. Eriks name is so small you can barely read it. I am appalled that they will not give him the respect he deserves like any other student who passes away just because of the way he died!!! Here is what they want to put in the yearbook. Shame on you North Star for you to treat one of your own dedicated student's, wont even put a picture of him in there!! This is the add:   It’s ok to talk.
