Despite popular belief, there are LGBT students that attend independent religious schools. They are not protected by state laws, and the schools themselves do not protect them. I was in two Jewish day school systems the past 9 years of my life and was bullied for a majority of those years. People presumed I was a homosexual, and a year and a half ago, they found out I was right. I was treated like a second-class citizen. I transferred this year to a new non-religious school, but I am not the only one who has lived this life. It is hard enough to be a teen who is LGBT, but being told that your deity hates you just piles on. There are no mentions of homosexuality in sexual education that do not end in "that is not a valid life choice," "that is not a real family," or "that is perversion and none of you are gay, right?" We need to end this madness. Enough is enough.
