Honestly, Lego has been building up to the triumphant return of Makuta since 2014. It has been 2 years now, and Lego has figured out a design for him. And Bionicle is cancelled. Lego literally made a set for him for the Netflix series, but he needs to be a set. He is the main villain of the story, and the other enemies are simply side villains. In other words, he needs to become an officially released set with the Mask of Ultimate Power

We have every major character except Makuta in set form so it's only fair we get him to finish the collection.

I had imagined that we would have a third wave in 2017 with a final version of the mighty Makuta. This big set can be a good way to say goodbye to the Bionicle Generation 2.

I heard that Makuta was originally going to be in a set along with Umarak the Destroyer, Ekimu, and the Beasts. Also, the Mask of Ultimate Power hasn't been released yet.

OH PLEASE YES! In a serious manner though, it does seem rather distasteful to tease thefanbase with a unique design that will sadly not be released. I think that as one last "Hurrah!" for the series, it would be touching to have this be released as a sendoff for Bionicle Gen.2. Kind reguards - Anthony/Kiva

if you reveal the villain in a series that is going to be cancel, and that series involves you building the characters from said series, then the smart business choice would be to make that villain the last set of the series that is being cancelled.
