I am concerned specifically about the cost vs quality element here, to be purchasing already out of date hardware at such an increased cost seems illogical - I have also heard and read bad reports of the scheme when items need fixing in terms of the cost expected for small breakages and time take to repair

This change is burdensome , unreasonable and abrupt. The cost of change shall be on school. It is unfair to put this on parents. Which are already under rising costs of schooling including VAT. Thank you.

Strongly disagree school forced parents and students to join the EasyFU scheme and purchase or rent new laptops.

Delay the process by 24months, discount the purchase value allowing anyone who needs the device sooner to purchase via schooll.

As a parent, I strongly disagree with making this scheme mandatory without proper consultation with parents, students, and staff. Many families have already invested in suitable devices based on the school’s previous policy, and it feels unfair to require parents to bear additional costs unnecessarily. Existing devices that meet educational requirements should continue to be allowed.

I fully support the school’s safeguarding intentions, however I do not agree with parents being forced to rent or purchase devices exclusively through one provider at what appears to be inflated pricing for lower-specification laptops compared to what many families could source independently. The online meeting with Easy4U also did little to inspire confidence. Many parents experienced technical issues, including being unable to access the chat, Q&A, or microphone functions on Teams, making it impossible to participate properly. For a company providing a large-scale technology rollout, communication and functionality are essential.

I am signing this petition because the school is requiring parents to buy laptops from them at around £1,000 above retail price, even though we recently purchased suitable laptops for our children. Children already have access to phones and tablets, so the school should focus more on education, teaching internet safety, and proper monitoring rather than forcing expensive school-specific purchases. Any monitoring software can be installed (or bypassed) on existing devices anyway, and restrictions are unlikely to be fully effective. Parents should be allowed to choose and purchase the devices they want for their children.

This scheme adds unnecessary cost and pressure on families. It makes sense for students who need to purchase a laptop for the first time. However, for existing students who already own a good, fully functional laptop purchased at the school’s request, this creates an unnecessary financial burden for parents.

This is completely outrageous! BYOD Is a very common thing in. The solution is not to force parents to purchase lower spec machines at overpriced rates, but to simply invest in technologies that resolve the issues. It is NOT the hardware at fault, it is the Software and/or the Networking Infrastructure. The Hardware is an US problem as in the parents. The Software/Networking Infrastructure is a YOU problem. Forcing parents to fork out more money is not an acceptable solution. The Cost of Living Crisis is a real thing. Do not make it worse. Thank you for the time it took to read this. Many thanks Thomas

We purchased a suitable device for our daughter less than 12 months ago and do not wish to spend out even more money for a new one. There’s nothing wrong with their laptop. Happy to purchase new software to protect her but not a whole new device and subscription.

Unnecessary given the other options available. This further dilutes the trust between the school / business and parents. The school often leans on hyperbole around working with parents but I’ve not seen this in action in 5 years.

Father to Annabel (Yr9) and Tilda (Yr8) - hopefully the school can engage with parents and other stakeholders to agree a workable solution for all.

Don’t see the strong point by roll out this, also the cost is not reasonable

Parents should not have any restrictions to purchase any item for there children, it got nothing to do with school. Parents should not have any kind of stress from school that they have to purchase from school.

Our experience with Easy4you was not good. We do not understand why the school believes this is a reliable alternative solution.

Fully supportive of the petition and if school has specific requirements then. Software based solution to be explored that enable BYOD usage by student

I do agree, that there may be more alternative options to come to the same solution that will be worth to explore.

I have 2 children who started year 7 in September. We chose to go with the recommended spec the school stated and bought them Microsoft surface laptops. I cannot justify spending more money on devices when I have already spent 1k each on the children's laptops. I feel this request from the school is unreasonable. With full VAT being added on the school fee meaning school fees have increased and this extra cost on the laptops will be a financial burden we cannot justify. I am happy to pay for any security upgrades our already laptops have. I do not allow my children to use their laptops for anything other than school purposes so VPNs are not an issue for my family.
