Urge the Sub-Executive of United Church, Toronto Conference to reject the recommendations of the Conference Interview Committee Re: Gretta Vosper

As someone who grew up in Hamilton with Clifford Elliot as my minister, I am very disappointed with the United Church ...Come to WHU and see the love for Gretta shown by the people in the pews!

As a member of UCCAN for almost 50 years, I'm utterly ashamed of the way in which Gretta Vosper has been treated by a denomination that I have been proud to call home. To call Gretta "unsuitable" is to call all of us with similar worldviews the same. If Gretta is put on the discontinued list I will be resigning my membership and asked to be removed from the church roll.

I have been a long time member of the United Church but through much consideration have aligned with Gretta Vospers beliefs. Surely there is room for all of us.

I do not agree with the recommendation of the committee to revoke

The United Church of Canada is making an very unfortunate mistake if they continue to go ahead with this shortsighted and wrongheaded decision!

Due to Gretta's perspective on religious teachings, I have returned to church with an open mind for the refreshing journey we are on.

I fully feel the recommendations of the conference interview committee regarding Gretta Copper are a step backwards for the United Church. I sincerely hope this recommendation is reversed. Thank you Larry Daw

The UCC's historically progressive positions on any number of issues have been a significant element of its distinctiveness in the Canadian church landscape. The tone & content of this ruling suggest that that distinctiveness is under threat - from within. I urge not just the rejection of the committee's report - but beyond that, a reversal that includes a clear statement of support for the diversity Gretta's ministry brings to the "big tent" of the UCC.

I back Gretta all the way !!

I met just yesterday with some friends and colleagues to discuss how we might respond to this unjust and worrisome action. Thanks for the petition.

I never thought that a group of United Church people could be so narrow minded. Many of us 'pew sitters' may need to question whether we should remain or go.

At last! It's time to stand up behind Gretta.

I commend Gretta Vosper for her integrity in attempting to expand the Christian metaphor.

I feel this whole process is a travesty and is setting our chance to be a relevant church in our time back decades.

I don't have a problem if she is trying to encourage people to live lives of understanding and compassion for others, lives of helping for fellow citizens.

There have been times in my life when my questioning might have ended with the same response from the institutional church. However the church grew and came into a different place and I also continued to grow.

My spiritual home has always been the UCC. My spirituality has changed over the years so that I no longer believe in a grey haired man sitting on a throne in heaven (early Sunday School teachings) to an expansive one of inclusiveness, values and openness to new beginnings.

I strongly disagree with decision made by th Conference Interview Committee re:Greta Vosper.
