Dear Tift County Board of Commissioners:

We, the undersigned residents of Tift County, urge the Tift County Board of Commissioners to reject the application TC-PUD-20-02 being made to rezone 6.865 acres of land at 2819 Rainwater Road for an urban planned development.

The proposed development would destroy wetlands, woods, and orchards and replace them with 77 housing units and at least 154 parking spots. The proposed TC-PUD-20-02 development would degrade the neighborhood’s resource management, sense of place, and quality of life.

Members of the neighborhood and community are working together to develop alternative plans which would enable the community to use and visit this land while protecting its ecological integrity and agricultural heritage. Public use of this land would improve resource management, expand educational opportunities, and deepen our sense of place in the area. Rejecting the proposed TC-PUD-20-02 development would be the first step toward this objective.
