REJECT PUBLIC GARAGE IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD
We the undersigned request that the CRA and/or Council vote "NO" on purchasing the parcels on 4th and 4th and to not construct a parking garage on this property:
We oppose this purchase and the subsequent building of a multi-level public garage in the heart of an Old Naples neighborhood zoned for residential use. We ask Council to respect the residential boundaries and follow land codes.
We expect Council to uphold the Fifth Avenue South Overlay District Code (Division 6 Section 581131) which states the Division will ensure that no significant additional traffic impacts will be added to surrounding neighborhoods.
We want our city to engage its voters and residents in meaningful conversation about such major decisions and not introduce and vote on them during summer months when many are out of town.
City Council should follow the intent of CRA legislation and spend our tax dollars on projects that align with that legislation and where there is real need, such as between Rte. 41 and Goodlette Frank, and the River and Anthony Park neighborhoods.
We want our city officials and planners to reconsider their commitment to a 25 year old plan and to begin vetting the recommendations of this Miami developer with residents in order to ensure that we preserve and protect the character, charm, and small town feel of Old Naples as the town has promised to do.
