This is bigoted plain and simple. We've been called zealots, fundamentalists... That's what's behind this push. Bigotry and money. We already have evaluations buy state acredited private institutions. The state has no place in this unless they can prove neglect.

This system was repealed for a reason, it was not in the best interests of New Hampshire's Homeschoolers. Bringing back laws that did not work makes no more sense than returning to prohibition would. Move forward and find forward-looking solutions when problems present themselves. This bill is a solution in search of a problem that does not exist.

My biggest issue is this bill is a presumption of guilt as opposed to the presumption of innocence, which is contrary to our rights as U.S. Citizens. It is an attempt to legislate a perceived problem. If there are concerns about a child's education the law already in place provides for that.

This bill is simply unnecessary government overreach and against the spirit of liberty that distinguishes NH as a state. There’s no evidence of the bill’s necessity. Rather, efforts should be focused on addressing the failing school systems that are partly motivating many families to homeschool—such as the failing school district of the Representatives who initiated the bill.

If the Berlin superintendent and state representatives are worried about educational neglect, they should look to how poorly the district performed on the 2017 Smarter Balance Assessment.
