Please stop this intrusive bill that expects homeschoolers to reach higher levels of expected academic achievement and governmental oversight than any other school. This is clearly unfair and biased in its perspective and expectations of homeschoolers.

Please withdraw or vote against this bill: it is prejudicial against homeschooling families by placing a greater burden of proof on them, then on many of the public schools in the communities in which they live.

It is humorous (if it weren't so serious) that the legislators are looking to hold homeschooled students to a higher standard that public school students.
While I have no doubt that the average homeschooler can withstand a higher standard than the average homeschooler, it still strikes me as bizarre that you would want to give the school authority to terminate a homeschool program based on arbitrary whims of a school district.
I'm also concerned about what is taken out of the existing law, namely, that homeschooled children are able to take part in public school sports, band, etc. We pay tax money for the privilege of not sending our students to the schools. The very least the school can do is allow my child to participate in sports and band, etc. and I find it concerning that the current legislators have removed that text from the law.

The state is not in charge of the students in home and private schools; they are in charge of educating those placed within the public schools. They have plenty of problems to work on in the public school realm, so keep your energies focused there, please.
This will never pass. You don’t know the strength of the will of NH homeschoolers!

As staunch advocates of effective learning, we recognize that the homeschooling rules that currently exist respect children, their learning needs, and society's needs, while schools don't. Don't change what isn't broken.

As a ex public school teacher with 14 years of experience and a master's degree in education, I feel that I am more than qualified to teach my own children. The legislators really need to look at the big picture. I hold myself and my children to high expectations and I am able to meet my children's individual needs - our local public school couldn't do that, so let me do my "job".

As a retired principal, I know that these requirements are not enforced in public schools. Programs are not cancelled if a child is not performing at grade level or ‘age-appropriate’ level. No one is reprimanded, nor do they lose the right to teach. The law for homeschooling families should not have higher requirements than those of the public schools. These strictures are not enforced for private schools, either. Homeschooling families should be allowed the same rights as every other citizen.

It’s already tougher for a homeschooler to pass a grade than it is for a student in a public school. Parents who choose to be responsible for their children’s education deserve the right to do so.

The government should have no authority to choose how parents decide to educate their children!!! They need to keep their nose out of parental rights and a parents right to choose in regards to education. This bill is just not right.

As a mother I see the need to give Freedom to homeschooling parents. My homeschooling boys have graduated college and have careers. Please keep homeschooling Freedom and choices left to parents.

In my experience home-schooled kids are better behaved and more advanced than any of the kids in public schools. Clearly the public schools need more accountability and homeschoolers need more support, not more red tape.
