Global Academy has sent a letter to parents informing them that they intend to shorten students lunch breaks from one hour to thirty minutes. This, as I’m sure you’ll agree, is a terrible idea. Lunch is an important time in the day to relax and prepare to focus on the next lesson. To be expected to focus for 7 hours with only 45 minutes break is an unfair expectation of already strained students. Not only does common sense dictate this but science also show that the average adult can only fully focus for 40 minutes before needing a break and this figure is substantially lower for teenagers. To yield optimal results from students there should be more breaks in the day not less. We have an opertunity to express our concern to the governers before the decision is made, on the 13th of December, if this idea concerns you please sign this petition and email [email protected]

I have finalized the formal letter of objection addressed to the school governors. This document outlines the scientific evidence regarding student focus periods and will be delivered to the board office tomorrow morning.

I feel like this system will screw over all the students that have to go out to eat because they never have money on their parentpay, it takes some of us twenty minutes just to walk into the town and back, when are we supposed to eat and what is the actual point of shortening our lunch break?
Lunch should be an hour?. There shouldn't be an expectation of constant concentration were humam not robots.
Students need to have their lunch. By the time they get down from lesson to the lunch queue then to eat and drink there’s not gonna be enough them time they have. When they eat it’s not really a break for them because that’s kinda important. How do you expect them all to go to clubs at lunch as well? This is a really bad change the new principle shouldn’t be making changes this quick without an input on parents before it has been announced. GCSE students as well they gotta have time to chill because they’re gonna be revising soon they need to have food break and their own time.
I give all my employees a 1 and a half hour break. If this is really the school of the future, then treat them like professionals, not students.
I want my lunch. I want to be able to have enough time to relax and enjoy my food. I don't want to be rushing. And also at lunch I sometimes have work to do and shortening it will just cause me more stress to be truly honest.
