Global Academy has sent a letter to parents informing them that they intend to shorten students lunch breaks from one hour to thirty minutes. This, as I’m sure you’ll agree, is a terrible idea. Lunch is an important time in the day to relax and prepare to focus on the next lesson. To be expected to focus for 7 hours with only 45 minutes break is an unfair expectation of already strained students. Not only does common sense dictate this but science also show that the average adult can only fully focus for 40 minutes before needing a break and this figure is substantially lower for teenagers. To yield optimal results from students there should be more breaks in the day not less.
