The Africana Studies program is important to the University. The global student population of Western Michigan University benefits from the opportunity to learn about the culture of Africans and African Americans.
I took African Literature at WMU and I learned so much about the African culture. I still own the books I read in class, and read them to my own daughter now. Our country is a big melting pot and African culture is a big part of it. Bring back the Africana studies program and give another generation to close the gap of cultural ignorance.
This program is an important dimension of education at Wmu.

My Bachelor degree in Africana Studies has given me the necessary tools to decipher and navigate through our culturally diverse world. It is a shame that others cannot earn those same skills. Bring back Africana Studies!
