MATTHEW 19:9 “And so I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, EXCEPT FOR SEXUAL IMMORALITY, AND marries another commits ADULTERY.
What is ADULTERY?
ADULTERY is voluntary SEXUAL INTERCOURSE between a married person and a person who is not his or her spouse.
IF YOU DIVORCE, YOU DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY BECAUSE NO SEX IS INVOLVED!
THUS, THE BIBLE IS NOT AGAINST DIVORCE!
It is REMARRYING, if the reason for divorce is not sexual immorality, that commits ADULTERY because sex is now involved.

1. We are not under a theocratic form of government. Churches and religions can enforce their belief to their members only.
2. Morality is more upheld by discouraging concubinage, adultery, spouse violence, child abuse, and more severe crimes in domestic situations by having divorce alternative.
3. Having divorce law in the Philippines does not devalue marriage rather it enhances more the sanctity of marriage since marriage will no longer be seen as cage. Without divorce alternative, more shall be partial to 'common-law partnership' and producing several 'illegitimate' children.
4. Having divorce law legalized and recognized does not mean every married couple will have to get divorced. In all countries where divorce law is existing, we find so many married couples celebrating lifetime commitment willingly and proof of love, not of forced commitment and hypocrisy.
5. With divorce law, alimony and child support will be part of the agreement, rather than leaving a spouse and children unsupported because of abandonment.
6. Foreign court decision of divorce will not leave a Filipino spouse bound to an irrevocable marriage while divorced spouse are free to marry elsewhere. A Filipino ex-spouse will no longer be hindered in acquiring different business and legal transactions.
7. Having a divorce law will create equality between the rich and poor, since it is currently only the rich and famous one who can avail the cost of having the right to remarry and start a new beginning.
