We condemn the decision by Stagecoach East Midlands to axe the evening and Sunday service of the 53 bus, between Mansfield and Sheffield. We are also disappointed by the reduction in frequency of the daytime service from hourly to two-hourly. The timetable changes particularly affect people outside of the main towns, such as residents of north Derbyshire villages and towns such as Clowne and Bolsover, who use the service to get to work, visit friends, go to events and use facilities in Sheffield and Mansfield. We urge Stagecoach East Midlands to reinstate the 53 service in the evenings and on Sundays, and to restore the service to hourly.
