When I asked around, I'd heard that weightlifting was dropped for lack of interest, that there wasn't enough support from enough countries to justify its continued presence in the games. I invite anyone with more information to post.

I competed and won gold in the '73 Macabbi Games (middle-heavyweight class). Was sorry to hear years later that the sport was no longer part of the program. By all mean, bring it back.
