We, the parents of Walter J. Mitchell students, are requesting that the administration restore the annual Book Character Parade for Halloween 2025.

Although we understand that the parade creates extra work for administrators and teachers, it is a beloved tradition that promotes reading, is fun for students, and strengthens the connection between school and family. Students eagerly look forward to the parade each year and have already begun planning their costumes!

We understand that the fact that Halloween falls on a Friday half day this year may necessitate a date change for the parade, which we would happily accept. In the future, any changes to a long-running school traditions should be made far in advance and through clear communication with parents, not through rumors and social media.
