I agree with bringing back the rule of 90. It would also help local districts. Add some qualifiers for teachers. He must sub at least 10 times for the first three years after retirement.

The challenges that our teachers face in education is at an extremely high stress level. This is not healthy for our students or teachers. When you have an increase in academic requirements, more personal student/parental issues, teachers burn out! I support reintroduction of rule 90.

It is important to bring the rule of 90 back to ensure "tired" teachers are able to retire before they become ineffective. I started tearing in 1995, I am 49 years old. Without the rule of 90 I'll need to work 18 more years to get my retirement. I take educating children very seriously and it is a rewarding yet exhausting career. I worry that when I'm 66 I may lose my drive and therefore become ineffective. If the Rule of 90 is reinstated I'll be able to retire when I'm 60. Please help keep our teachers effective and reinstate the Rule of 90.

It is a win-win for students, teachers and also supports district subbing possibilities. There is such a shortage of qualified teacher substitutes. This reinstatement of the Rule of 90 would encourage early retirement, the hiring of younger qualified teaching staff and allow retiree's to return as substitute teachers.

I have a hard time understanding how the Minnesota Legislature DOES NOT support continuing the Rule of 90. We should encourage our mentally stressed and aging teacher population to retire as soon as possible, not penalize them. Retired teachers make the most effective and reliable substitute teachers. However, if you force them to work until 66, their effective subbing years are wasted. Ultimately, it comes down to this .... what's best for the students. And having said that ..... Rule of 90 is the best for students.

It is crazy that a teacher hired the fall of 1988 get's to retire at 55-56 with 34-35 years of service and the person hired in the fall of the very next year has to work until age 66 to get their full benefit. Something has to change. I will have taught for 43 years if I have to teach until age 66. This practice is not equitable.

After 40 years of teaching, at 62, I am finally at the point where I just can't do it anymore. I love the kids, but I am exhausted. My friends who are still working are doing much better. They have lunches out, can take off time when they get their work done, and can work less hours to gradually be part time. Teaching is all in all the time. I have little left for anything when I get home. It takes a toll.
