To Whom It May Concern,

As residents of Pearl City Peninsula, mothers of young children, and spouses of the brave men and women of our nation's military we are deeply concerned about the security of our homes and families. The removal of the gate guards from our community just four days ago has resulted in homeless people wandering our streets and looking into vehicles, known drug dealers riding through the neighborhood in broad daylight, and just last night, a women who self-admitted to being high on meth, sitting in the middle of our main road and later found deep within our neighborhood screaming, banging on a residents home with a screwdriver and flashlight that “god sent her here” to help them as she attempted to make entry. I guarantee that this will not be an isolated incident if our gates are left unmanned. This security nightmare deserves your immediate attention and action.

As you know, many of us spend weeks and months running our families and households without our spouses while they are away for training or deployments. Several of our spouses suffer from PTSD, a disease that comes with many consequences, including paranoia and inability to rest at night. Many of us only moved into Pearl City Peninsula because we knew there was a 24/7 gate guard to watch over us.

We are all left with the burden of deciding between living in a community now saturated with criminals, anxiety, and fear or paying hundreds of dollars out of pocket and having to orchestrate yet another move for our families. Is this truly the position you want to place our nation's heroes and their loved ones in?

We implore that your take immediate action in restoring security and peace of mind to our residents by reinstating the gate guards.

Thank you for your prompt consideration of this matter.
