The local membership had a vote and made a democratic decision to give way to a candidate who represented a core Labour policy of preserving the NHS. Jeremy Hunt being the threat that he is to our National Health service, unseating the Health Secretary would be a real boost to an institution founded by the pioneers of our Socialist Docratic movement.
If the Labour executive insist on preventing members making democratic decisions locally, I'm not sure the executive represent the movement for a true Socialist Democracy.

As a Labour member I am appalled that fellow members have been punished for trying to stop the man destroying our NHS.

I am really opposed to expulsions unless they have fundamentally breached Labour's core values. I did not support the Progressive Alliance and I support the current leadership fully, but expulsions are not the way forward, and are deeply undemocratic. There are expulsions in my local CLP from the time of the leadership contests and they still have not been righted.

The suspensions on this basis is stark staring bonkers as a reaction to what in effect is the rigged system of first past the post. Labour's upcoming paper considering introducing some form of proportional representation acknowledges this reality, so we should not be punishing activists on the ground who effectively act accordingly.
