We, the Mechanical Engineering Students of Prairie View A&M University who have entered into the program during or before the 2014-2015 calendar years, petition the university to honor the ‘PVAMU Mechanical Engineering Course Flow Chart for 2014-2015 Catalog’ allowing us to enter into MCEG 4472 (Senior Design and Professionalism I) without having completed MCEG 3023 (Thermodynamics II), MCEG 3063 (Fluid Mechanics), and/or MCEG 3013 (Heat Transfer).

Upon arriving at Prairie View A&M University and registering for our first semester of classes in August of 2015, we were presented with the attached degree plan which shows that the only required pre-requisites for MCEG 4472 (Senior Design and Professionalism I) are MCEG 3043 (Machine Design I) and MCEG 3011 (Measurement and Instrumentation Laboratory), whereas in the current 2017-2018 Mechanical Engineering Course Flow Chart, the required pre-requisites for MCEG 4472 (Senior Design and Professionalism I) are MCEG 3023 (Thermodynamics II), MCEG 3043 (Machine Design I), and MCEG 3011 (Measurements and Instrumentation Laboratory). Because of this change in required pre-requisites many Mechanical Engineering students are being forced to extend their time here at Prairie View A&M University a semester, a year, or more. This extension of time that has been made mandatory to fulfill the requirements to receive a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering will result in added expenses paid to Prairie View A&M University, a loss of potential wages from employment opportunities to be pursued subsequent to graduation, and prospective employers may perceive that we lack drive, dedication, and ambition in our chosen area of study.

We, the undersigned, are concerned students fighting for our school to uphold the commitments made to us as incoming freshmen during or before the 2014-2015 calendar years.
