Let bonafide science drive food policy not pseudo-science business.

So Nina gets kicked off in favor of someone who studies "potato science?" Yea...that seems unbiased...

If you are confident in your own science be brave enough to listen to every side and debate and discuss. What you are doing instead is to dismiss. Makes me doubt YOUR findings and not hers. Cowards!

One size does not fit all. We need choice.

If you are confident in your science, you should fear another perspective.

Nina Teicholz is on the side of scientific advancement--advancement which will be impeded if she is barred from this serious discussion.

Heart disease runs in my family so for most of my adult like I tried to follow conventional wisdom - low fat, high fiber, mostly plants - put forth by those who would now block Ms. Teicholz from the discussion of nutrition policy. When taking my first desk job after of college in my 20's the advice worked to some degree and I lost a few pounds. In my thirties I started gaining weight again and this time to maintain a normal weight I had to run. a lot. as in train for marathons averaging over 100 mile a month until tendonitis put and end to that. In my 40's my weight peaked at 215 pound and my waist expanded to 36 inches following this advice. So I ate less and moved more. On a 1800 calorie low fat diet working out 5 days a week I lost 15 pounds in 8 weeks. After 8 more weeks of the same I lost no more weight and was hungry all the time. That's when I thought I should not have to starve myself or train for marathons to maintain a healthy weight. That was 3 years ago I heard about low carb high fat diets (LCHF). Since going LCHF I lost 30 more pounds. As a 47 year-old I weigh the same and have the same waist size as when I was in high school. I eat more and work out less and effortlessly maintain a healthy body weight. After 3 years of LCHF all my health markers (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar) are the best they have ever been. Additionally I look and feel better, my IBS and acid reflux are gone without drugs. Ms. Teicholz deserves to be heard for the people like me who have benefited from LCHF eating and the millions more who might benefit but will be scared off because those who have set the modern nutritional agenda are afraid to have their ideas challenged.

Terrible to see food policy being discussed without all the information.

Food Policy needs people that have looked at the research carefully. Few have done so carefully as Teicholz. Those that appose her find it understandably painful to not want to face that their food beliefs could have contributed to disease, disability and death on such a large scale.

Real science needs to be unbiased or influenced by commercial enterprises. We will all be healthier...

Again, we must allow open dialogue to find the best solutions. Money should not drive the debate.
