That they have anyone from CSPI involved in anything to do with
public-health policy is a disgrace

Here is the problem: For nearly two generations now the Dietary Gurus have urged us to avoid eating fat, curtail the consumption of meat and substitute "whole grains" instead. The result is obvious to anyone who cares to take a ride on public transit or stroll through a mall in any city in the country: We've turned into Overweight Nation, a land where one out of every three people weighs as much as the other two. Obviously, the Dietary Guidelines, as shaped by the Medical-Industrial Complex, has been a failure of colossal proportions --which pretty much describes our population these days. It is time to re-think the so-called expert advice we've been force-fed over the last 30 years, and few researchers are better equipped to do that intelligently than Nina Teicholz. At the very least she needs to be an important voice in the national dialogue we need to have about diet, nutrition and food choices. Put her back on the Food Policy Panel.

I was an undergrad Animal Husbandry student at the University of Minnesota in the early '60's and my meats professor, Dr. Woodrow Aunan, was involved in challenging Ancel Keys' "research." As a career Meat Scientist, we've been fighting these non-science based misinformation for several decades. The battle continues. Fortunately, a good portion of everyday common sense folks ignore it and still enjoy meat/animal protein foods.

To disinvite Nina is disgraceful. Do you have the interests of public health a priority or peoples business interests.

It appears as if the other panelists don't want to engage in debate with a different viewpoint.
