Reinstate Professor Denise Clement!

learned a lot from allk the clinical session that Professor Clement instructed. We were given excellent direction and she is very understanding and accommodating and never pull down any of my co-student through out the clinical session she instructed. Professor Clement is vigilant and make sure that all student learning needs are met. She treated all of us equally with respect and gave us (the student) the needed foundation, such that no one feel marginalized by her course. She gave timely feedback to student, that remind us to stay focus. She make me think out of the box and view the total picture. I am surprise about the complains because I believe it is out of context. Moresore, I was privilege to have been clinically instructed by Professor Clement and not once did I or any of my co-student experience any of the levied allegations to the best of my knowledge. It will be a shame to dismiss her and deprived coming nursing student from the wealth of experience Professor Clement possess.

I learned a lot during the many clinical sessions that Denise Clement instructed. She is vigilant and make sure that all students learning needs are met. Denice Clement to the best of my knowledge treated the students professionally and with respect, she gave us the needed foundation such that no one feel marginalized by her course. She gave prompt feedback to student, and help us refocus and critical think out of the box. Should I have course for more clinical, I will be glad to be her student again. It is a shame to here that she is not at CCN currently, I believe that Denise Clement should be reinstated so as not to deprived the coming student from learning from the wealth of experience she generously gave to all her students.

100% disagree with your assessment of Denise. In the 3 years and numerous clinical rotations I have had with Denise, I would have to say that your accusations are way off base. Denise was always there for us and would know your patients med schedule before you did so she would know when find you to make sure she was present when administering medications. She would never be in a patients room without the student, let alone sitting and watching t.v. and as far as political views, those are an individual choice and thick skin is needed. Denise fully knew my military background and conservative views, did she rib me about them, yes, but opinions are to the individual and you take them with a grain of salt and move on. I feel there is something more to your vendetta against Denise.

I was Denise Clement's student for three clinical rotations at CCN and no words could explain her drive and passion for teaching. I find these allegations absurd, and have no doubt in my mind that they are of false nature.

Of all my clinical instructors that I have had while at Chamberlain, Denise was the very best. She was always very professional, encouraging, and I always knew that there would be amazing learning opportunities while under her instruction. Letting her go as an instructor was the biggest mistake Chamberlain has made in my 2 and half years as a student.

I learned so much from Denise Clement. She really took the time to explain things to me and held me to a high standard to help me use my critical thinking skills. Of all the clinical instructors I had, this woman was so invested in me personally and has even checked up on me frequently. I am so sad to hear that she is not at CCN anymore. I can thinl of a few teachers at this school who should be replaced with more like Denise.

I have known Professor Clement since I first started nursing school. She was my first clinical instructor and has been my instructor for many rotations. I have never met another instructor who has truly cared about their students the way that Professor Clement does. She continuously goes above and beyond for her students not only on an educational level but a personal level as well. Whenever we needed to vent she would provide an ear and offer help in any way possible. Her clinicals were always a learning atmosphere whether it provided direct patient care, case studies, or learning how to critically think. In my 2.5 years at Chamberlain I never learned more from any other professor or Clincal instructor. I can truly contest to her character. As I am about to graduate I asked Professor Clement the honors of pinning me at graduation and was truly upset when I was told she was let go and unable to attend. Chamberlain will truly be lost without her wonderful contributions to her students! I can honestly say that I would never be at the point of graduating if it was not for her guidance and support!

Professor Clement was the first clinical instructor I had at Chamberlain. From day one I could see that her full intention was in aiding us be the best we can be and never spoke in a negative way to me or either of the students we interacted with. I had Professor Clement for many clinical rotations and I can say without a doubt that her support and teaching in the clinical setting was definitely an aid in my success at Chamberlain. I have had numerous exceptional experiences with her and she always strived to get the most out of every clinical experience for each and every one of her students. Current and future Chamberlain students would definitely be losing out on a superb instructor and clinical experience with Professor Clement out of the picture in the clinical settings. There are many clinical instructors but not many that have the same dedication and drive as Professor Clement to make great nurses out of us. She is determined to make sure we come out above the rest! I truly hope that you can hear the voices of your current and past students and reevaluate the decision that was made in regards to Professor Clement's dismissal. It would be a true honor to see her at the end of our journey at graduation when she played such an enormous part in our success to get to where we are today! It will also be an enormous gift to future students who will benefit tremendously from clinical instructor who truly cares.

Denise clement and Susie bowers are the best instructors chamberlain has seen. I've been to chamberlain in both the St. Louis and Arlington locations, and the Arlington location needs to recognize real nursing talent and appreciate it when they are lucky enough to get instructors like Denise clement. As a RN now, I can say that Denise clement is above chamberlain if their standards are to keep instructors that do the bare minimum and dismiss great RNs that make an impact in everyone's life by being generous to contribute their time such as Denise clement. Chamberlain in Arlington just made a huge mistake but as a former student I know that they will continue to bring disappointments.

President Hughes, I as well as other students in my class had very opposite experiences than what some other students are describing. Yes she was very knowledgeable and knew what she was doing as far a caring for the patient, but I wouldn't say I enjoyed her clinicals. I do hope that others did have good experiences with her. But I was in her clinical group during the last presidential election and she was very rude to me because she found out that my political views were different than hers. Constantly trying to debate about different things and singling me out every time during our lunch break even if i stated that I didn't want to talk about it. She began harassing me about it and told me that my family as well as the entire military is a bunch of idiots and other names not needed to be mentioned. I even received a text on election day from her about the results. This happened to other students in my class as well. Also there were numerous times we had to give up opportunities to pass medications because we couldn't find her to help give them. Also she would sit in the patients rooms watching tv or doing other things when they were off the unit. Yes she did get us involved within the hospital and in different units but her professionalism, while I had her was lacking. I had debated on whether or not to mention the political situation to my adviser but I did not because I didnt want it to affect me during the remainder of my time at Chamberlain. Which is also why know one else in my class stepped forward either. Now that we have completed the program I feel that these situations need to be addressed. So no I do not agree with this petition and know many others who refuse to sign as well. Thank you!

At first I was hesitant to state my real thoughts on here but if I am going to be honest then here goes... Denise clement is BETTER then chamberlain and I have a degree now so fuck anyone who doesn't agree. Susie bowers is better as well. So the only things chamberlain has done right was hire professor clement and bowers.,,period. AND.... Stop sending me questionnaires about if I'll get my masters through chamberlain because I'll tell you the answer now,.. Fuck no . The only benefit with chamberlain was getting to know Denise clement and Susie bowers.

Prof Clement has been and will remain one of my best clinical instructors. She is very knowledgeable. I am a practicing nurse so i understand what professionalism and clinical knowledge is all about. Please get her back so she can continue to impact us with her experience.

Ashley, I remember being in Denise's clinical group at Fairfax with you, but I don't ever recall Denise taking issue with your political views or the fact that your husband was in the military. In fact, I was in the Navy years ago, something that I think everyone knew from our introduction's at the beginning of clinical, and I never found anything that Denise said to be offensive or derogatory towards the military. Yes, it was obvious that she is a little liberal in her political views but I would say that she lorded that over any student. I do recall that she did support President Obama during that election and I do remember that she may have ribbed you a little about him winning the election, but I wouldn't say that she did it in a hurtful or spiteful way. As for her watching TV in patients rooms and not being available for learning experiences, that is the furthest from the truth. Denise would go out of her way to find us the best learning opportunities. She was always there long before we even arrived planning our day for us in order to making sure that we got the most out of each experience. That is what made her such an asset to Chamberlain, not her political views. Honestly, I would have to say that some of my most memorable learning experiences came from Denise. And that is why I feel that Chamberlain should reinstate Denise.

Ashley, It is unfortunate that you feel that you have had a bad experience. From ALL of my experiences with Professor Clement, which has been the majority of my Clinicals, I have never had any such issues with her or have seen such instances that you claim. My husband is also in the military, which Denise was very well aware of and was nothing but supportive! She was ALWAYS on the floor and was NEVER found in any of the patients rooms "watching TV". It was impossible of course to be with every student at once when it came to pass meds, however at the beginning of each clinical she would make it fact to be well organized and asked for each of us to report to her after receiving report on our patients so she was always aware of what patients we had and what medications were to be given at what time. She is an expert at prioritizing her time with her students and with the patients. As a matter of fact, she was the ONLY instructor that I have had that was so organized with our days on the unit. She even made rotation sheet and a list of experiences that we could check off and keep with us so we could always have it. I agree with Eric, this is not about "political views" it is about the education and experience that Denise provided to her students on a regular basis. That is what will be missed at Chamberlain. I feel sorry for all of the students that will be missing out on such a wonderful learning experience, and feel that Professor Clement is an ASSET to this school.

Ashley, I was very shocked to read your post, I have had Professor Clements for four of my clinical rotations and must say That I have never and I did say never seen , witnessed or heard any of the accusations that were listed. I agree with Eric and Melissa,Professor Clements has been very professional in all aspect of our clinical rotations She has gone above and beyond to meet the requirements that have been set forth by chamberlain and the state board to ensure we have the best clinical opportunity possible. We have seen the Arlington CCN grow and our class has seen a lot of changes over the past 2 years. I pray That professor Clements is reinstated so that all my new and current CCN students have the opportunity to experience what I consider the best clinical experiences for any nursing student. We live outside of D.C. you can go anywhere and hear political views really ? And as being a military wife you should really be use to how it really is. Professor Clements has never forced her views or "harassed" anyone during my whole 2 years at Chamberlain. Everyone is entitled to their views but reality is the hard part.
