Reinstate Portland Psychologist Dr. Kali Miller, Ph.D.

I did not know Dr. Miller until I was contacted by her to render an independent opinion on her work with children who have attachment challenges. I was also asked to review numerous documents stating the charges against her. After reading hundreds of pages of legal documents, reviewing the procedures she has used in working with children, and personally speaking to her, it is my professional opinion that Dr. Miller is a very competent, ethical, highly skilled, sensitive, and dedicated therapist. The charges against her, as revealed by the legal documents provided, including her cogent written rebuttals to each and every charge, clearly shows that nothing she has done would justify any form of condemnation. Indeed, based upon all the evidence provided, it appears Dr. Miller has been challenged by those who have little theoretical or experiential understanding of attachment theory and effective therapy for children with attachment problems. I saw absolutely no evidence that would suggest, in any way, that Dr. Miller has ever presented any threat to any child. To the contrary, Dr. Miller's knowledge and professional skills appear to be of the highest quality and her talents are very much needed in our profession.

I have seen Dr. Kali Miller interact with children utilizing her therapeutic horse, and I have spoken at length with her regarding the psychological impact of neglect and abandonment upon children and their adoptive families. Kali has a unique ability to understand what others are feeling and is able to translate these ideas and adapt effective techniques that are incredibly caring and helpful to many people. It is a tragedy that Dr. Kali's obvious talents as a psychologist are not seen as useful when there are so many people who have benefitted from her guidance. Please reinstate Dr. Kali Miller back into her chosen profession as a gifted psychologist. The world needs more people like her to help care for those children and adults who need so much assistance. Please do not let you he politics of fear override common sense and logic.

Please reinstate Dr. Kali Miller

I am closely associated with a family that has worked with Dr. Miller and can attest to the amazing postitive results of her therapy both in the girls and their parent's parenting skills. I am hopeful this case will be looked at on an individual and accurate fact basis for the decisions being made. The potential healing for traumatized children is significant if this case is overturned.

Dr. Miller is a skilled and compassionate therapist who has helped my daughters heal from developmental trauma. When her techniques are applied consistently and appropriately with love and the proper balance of structure and nurture, my girls learned to feel safe, trust, love and HEAL. We need more attachment therapists like Dr. Miller to bring help, hope and healing to hurting kids and their families.
