The University of Alabama finally crumbled and reinstated the pass/fail option for this semester. We forced their hand because they could no longer ignore thousands of students demanding basic respect. Stay alert because we proved that we have the power to dismantle their indifference whenever they try to brush us …

We are calling for the reinstatement of the Pass/Fail policy this semester due to extreme exposure of screen time effecting student health and learning experience. We will present the University this petition of 3,500 students to be sufficient enough to reinstate the policy. Thank you and please share.

The University of Alabama administration is ignoring our burnout and we need to hit our first target now to force them to look. Get this link onto every wall and into every group chat until we break past this hundred mark.

With restricted online learning and prerecorded lectures classes have increased in difficulty with very little support to counteract such hardships. Test grades for myself and many of my fellow peers are below average despite more Personal time allocated to classes.

If spring of 2019 received pass/fail due to a change in their academic instruction so should fall of 2020. Many of us have planned to take the classes we are in from the start, classes that we may not have taken if online instruction was laid out from when we made our 4 year plans.

Pass fail wasn’t even really expressed to us as an option for this semester, after hurricane sally hit my home town I reached out asking about this option and was told it was too late. Why would they make a deadline for this so early ?

UA’s curriculum hasn’t much changed since last April, yet the standards are very different despite similar circumstances. This semester feels like a double standard against all students who didn’t graduate last May.

It is not fair that my grade and gpa have to suffer because I am afraid of contracting COVID-19 and spreading it. Online learning is significantly harder for myself personally because I am very hands on and like to ask questions before and after class.

If UAB, a UA System school, continues to offer students the option of Pass/Fail grading, why does UA not follow this same approach? P/F grading is integral for accommodating students who may not perform as well in courses online as they would in-person.

Doing classes from home has restricted me as well as many other students to learn the material to the best of out ability. It has also damaged our test taking experience. I have taken two tests this semester in two different classes that I could not make the best score I could possibly make, due some technological error during the test. One test didn't provide the correct calculator to compute problems and the other test did not save my answers after input which resulted in a complete zero until I had to retake the test while on my lunch break from my internship. Due to my circumstances, I have to move tables my study desk next to a window so that I can get enough lighting on my face to take a test without the test being frozen because the camera does not detect my face as well(which has happened before on a test and caused me to lose many minutes of my test time to find a way to get the camera to detect me because the indoor lights are on already, and I can't move and change rooms during the test without being flagged for cheating). I know I am not the only student at your institution with this problem and we pay for our education before receiving it, so I am pleading for some relief to our stress by giving us the pass fail option for all of our classes.
