This is a text book example of the kind of backward thinking and knee jerk reaction to something so trivial that keeps everyone but junkies and drug dealers from staying here. Not only should these men be immediately reinstated, the mayor and police chief should make a formal public apology and they should be given some sort of financial compensation for the embarrassment suffered by these brave men and their families.

This is crazy these officer's put there life's online every day they go to work.. and to do this because of a hand sign saying it racist ..why don't you ask them what they meant by the sign ...next it be the clothes we wear or the way we look at them or the way we move our hands it racist my God wake up ...every body not racist ....

If I were the Officers, I'd file a lawsuit against the Mayor for abuse of power, defamation of character and misconduct in a public office. Hes a Mayor, not a Law Enforcement Officer, and should not have any power to interfere with Government Agency personnel or Internal affairs.
