Nicholas Pearce, Leader of the 1st & 9th Group and 12th Scouts was suspended from volunteering last Thursday 23rd April. He has since left the Scouting Association.
From what I can see it was seemingly over a very minor issue and no one was put at risk. As parents of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts it is our role to encourage and support our leaders and it is vital that we act now to reinstate Nicholas.
Nicholas is an excellent Cub and Scout leader. He is truly dedicated, experienced, calm, organised and passionate about enforcing traditional Scouting values.
As a parent of a Cub in the 1st & 9th I can see how his presence in the group has transformed the pack. They are well presented, enthusiastic and very respectful of Nicholas. In addition he has created a great programme of activities which revisit some of the origins of scouting, such as camp craft and badge work.
We all know how difficult it is to recruit volunteers to take on leading such groups and Jackie and Sue are both already hugely overworked. Surely we don't want to lose such a good and dedicated leader without a fight?
Lets aim to get Nicholas back before the District Camp on 9th May!
Please sign this petition, and share it with any parents, carers, beavers, cubs or scouts who you think may feel the same.
Thank you!
As far as I'm concerned Nicholas is a committed member of the scouting organisation and has supported my sons group (1st and 9th) as they have struggled to maintain a consistent group leader. He has always put the organisation ahead of everything and shown true leadership and is very respected by both scout and parents. Members like Nicholas must be retained within the group if we want the organisation to continue as it is. The organisation should consider the next steps with Nicholas with very carefully and not let bureaucracy get in the way of common sense.
