Mrs. Fiske is a gem of a person and a true treasure at SMMUSD. It’s about time we recognize and reward that instead of punishing it. Enough time has passed and the only people suffering here are the innocent kids, Mrs. Fiske and her family. In addition to having lost massive amount of learning time, kids are beginning to suffer from confusion and the fear of instability and it is affecting them. Mrs. Fiske and her kids have a special bond and we are depriving them of what is rightfully theirs. It is unacceptable.
Third grade is a gateway to lifelong learning. Let’s bring her back without any clout hanging on her head! We need her back.

Ms. Fiske has worked tirelessly for years for you at SMMUSD, inspiring and enlightening generations of students, including my own children. Show her the same respect she's shown you by discussing any issues you may have with her conduct as grownups, come up with a way to move forward, and re-instate her.
If roles were reversed, that's exactly what she would do.

Please do not throw away a long career that has bettered hundreds of minds. It sounds like this was just a simple mistake and is not nearly large enough to destroy a hard working teacher.

Dear Dr. Drati - I know Ms. Fiske from chatting while working on Franklin PTA advocacy projects and at the kindergarten meet&greet for her grandchild. She is a lovely person, dedicated teacher, and treasured member of our school community. I am sure that Ms. Fiske has learned lessons about the non-advisability and ethics of talking to the press about any student's or former student's report card; undoubtedly she learned that lesson the moment she read the Hollywood Reporter article. I believe her time away from her classroom to be already sufficient punishment for this lapse in judgment and that she and her kids deserve to have her back teaching ASAP. My two cents for what they're worth!
Respectfully,
Katy Henrikson Franklin parent

My only concern is whether the fact that Miller’s parents bullied the District into changing Fiske’s comments on his student review could be considered revealing Miller’s education record. BUT, even if that’s true, requirement for due process should be met, and the circumstances — the fact that she was assured the article was deep background — should be taken into account before “temporarily” suspending her.

This smells like irresponsible journalism. Mrs Fiske has been a wonderful teacher, and our experience with her instructing our daughter has been invariably positive. She should not (and the Franklin community should not) be the ones paying for this article. Sad, and largely incredible. Please perform whatever due diligence necessary ASAP, and reinstate Mrs Fiske. Thank you!

Mrs. Fiske is an extraordinary teacher. As a room parent, I am in the classroom all of the time. She is a creative, thoughtful, engaging, kind and brilliant teacher. She is full of ideas and always looking to improve and help the children learn on a deep level. One thing I have observed is that she is extra patient and kind to the more difficult children. The substitute teachers do not know the children well and some of the kids are leaving the classroom in tears. As you know, 3rd grade one of the most developmentally important years and needs consistency and safety. This disruption is unacceptable. Please, please put her back in the classroom immediately!

Mrs. Fiske's students need their beloved teacher back immediately! Neither Mrs. Fiske, nor her current class should pay the ultimate price for any ethical violations committed by the Hollywood Reporter.
