Absolutely, this must stop. As an autistic woman and a person with a brain, I am outraged. What makes anyone think they can dictate how people love each other?

I am not a Sterling resident, but I grew up nearby in Pretty Prairie. The library board is guilty of shameful bigotry and stupidity. Please reinstate these librarians. I hope the file a lawsuit.

This is insane that in this day and age, people are still up in arms over "rainbows" and books and want to fire people over piddly things like that. Additionally, books are important, and even controversial ones should be offered. Some of the books schools want to ban are culturally significant and point out important issues that still need to be addressed. I can only assume some of those books are the ones in question here as well... along with potentially LGBTQ friendly books. We need to support inclusion of all people.

Not only do I hope that they are reinstated, but I hope that the mayor and his entire library board that is built on nepotism is recalled for their lack of accountability, transparency, and fiduciary responsibility. That board should be more worried about having a budget in place, not micromanaging staff when they don't behave with the same prejudice and hatefulness the board seems to live by. Shame on each of them.

Disgusting that this is happening in the first place. These librarians should be reinstated, with pay, and those responsible for firing them prosecuted for harassment.

Best of luck. This is ludicrous that they were ever fired.

I find myself continually embarrassed by the attitude of Kansans that are in charge of things. We need more folks like these librarians in our state! Let’s take steps to make American freedom available to all by reinstating these folks!

Librarians shouldn't be fired for DOING their jobs. The city of Sterling has some explaining to do on the transparency of their meetings and their budget planning. Something is rotten in Sterling, and it's not the librarians.
