Reinstate Jason Eastman as Glencoe High School’s varsity softball coach

I find this whole situation unbelievable... I never had Jason as a coach but many of my friends are on the softball team and I’ve seen all the good he has done for Glencoe. It’s truly devastating to see the admin can let go an amazing coach doing great things for the community, but couldn’t fire a coach in another sport at Glencoe who was constantly being irresponsible. I will not call out this coach or sport but I feel a lot of people already have heard of this situation. I personally was on this team the last 2 years, and the whole entire program has gone downhill since. The past 4 years this coach has been at Glencoe, around 30 participants quit. The admin and athletic director Matt York received multiple complaints and concerns from parents of the participating athletes, and did nothing but blamed it on the students in the program. York had came into our practices and yelled at the team and THREATENED to give referrals to the entire team instead of taking action on the coaches wrong doings. York told us we were being disrespectful towards the coach and that the coach was doing nothing wrong. This coach constantly talked down on my teammates and I, showed up late to every practice and game, brought her work from her day job to practices and would put a few of my returning teammates and I in charge, and would act more as a team mate than coach to all of us. It was shocking to see the admin and York’s lack of responsibility. This coach is STILL at Glencoe for the 2019-2020 season and I refuse to believe they can easily let go Jason so easily and push aside an actual issue of a coach.

Bruh. Don't make nice people mad. I don't want a certain person mad. Don't be a dick, give a good reason or undo this.

This is truly sad. GHS will never be able to build good programs with quality coaches doing things like this. Someday they’ll never be able to find people willing to coach our kids when administration acts like this.

thanks to glencoe admin, my father will no longer be able to coach me during my senior high school softball season. This man has had a huge impact on the community of not just Glencoe, but practically everyone he meets. I remember during HS tryouts, a little girl was watching us warm up and she was tossing an old raggedy ball around. Jason insisted I run to the facilty and grab a brand new shiny ball to give to the young girl that he knew would one day go through this program. That’s the type of coach EVERY athlete deserves to be around. Jason was someone who wanted to involve everyone, parents, students or even young kids watching on the sidelines. Glencoe lost someone who actually cared for the community. I am devastated for the kids who were one season away from playing for a coach that empowered us as female athletes. Jason was so supportive of volleyball, basketball, wrestling, soccer, baseball, the list goes on... almost more than our actual Principal and AD. He was DETERMINED to leave Glencoe better than when he started, and he did just that. He was really the only one to advocate for us. I sat back and saw how positive and empowering Jason was for girls coming into the program. I watched girls grow confident with themselves and as female athletes as he did nothing but coach is in a positive manner. Jason was a coach that we CHOSE to buy into his what he had to say. We weren’t forced. Again, Glencoe won’t be able to find that again. I got the amazing opportunity to have my dad as my coach throughout my first couple years of highschool and I can honestly say, he treated my teammates as one of his own. Again, he did nothing but light a fire in each and everyone of us. The sad truth is, I truly believe Matt York and Claudia Ruf would’ve seen the love the community had for him if they ACTUALLY showed up to games and had the chance to see the good he’s done for Glencoe, instead of being butthurt that he’s the one doing THEIR jobs. Shouldn’t have fired him

Jason is a wonderful person and coach/mentor. He has dedicated so much of his time to the softball program at Glencoe. He helps girls reach and achieve their goals to play college softball from the D1 level and down. There are girls coming up looking forward to have him as a coach/mentor. Please reinstate him.

This is not ok, the Softball team needs more recognition and the coach was only trying to help.

I am disgusted by this and disgusted by this administration. I used to be a proud Glencoe alum and if I was a parent who had kids in sports I would steer clear of GHS.

I'm stunned. Nobody has worked harder than Jason to keep the Tide rolling. This is shameful.

We are team Jason- he coached my daughter and took time out of his day to help pick-up kids and get them to the field while parents work. I see lack of communication was the reason the decision was made- too bad the athletics director didn’t take into consideration the exceptional role model he is/was for so many people and kids throughout many years. He’s dedicated to coaching and lives as an example we could all take away to be better people and help others.
