DGC associate members pay an annual fee, weekly dues and have taken the necessary training requirements to be apart of our guild. Under our current contract, associate members have been stripped of any guaranteed Screen Credit acknowledging their work on theatrical motion pictures. This process is deeply flawed as our voting members have shown little consideration for those affected. They are your members, you hire them within your own departments, they deserve better than this. Respect your members.

The voting members have a responsibility to speak on behalf of their associate members - when it is abused - it only strengthens a ONE member ONE vote policy for future contract negotiations. And will our Caucus reps and Executive Council support us? It is truly offensive asking our Full members to accept for others what they would never accept for themselves. Is this how we define "fair representation" as a labour organization. Our Location PAs, Set PAs and associate members in accounting, editing, art dept working on feature films did not have a say in being stripped of a guaranteed Screen Credit for the work expected of them. Associate Guild Members are more than just a pair of hands, respect them and speak for them.

Let's keep the P.A.'s in the screen credits. They work hard for the producers, let's give them the recognition they deserve.

What if we add the right to a screen credit to each deal memo as we sign it? Why couldn't that work?

I could not agree more with Marco.

Equal rights for all, enough is enough!

What Marco Di Flaviano stated is exactly right. Full members should not accept conditions for others that they would not accept for themselves. If they are the voice of others they are obliged to faithfully and unequivocally serve the best interest of those whom they represent.

Agreed, we are all members of the same guild, Why make some of our members feel less important for the work that they do? Why not treat all members equally?
