A very short-sighted decision. After all the effort put in over the last 4 decades, £12k pa is nothing. Are seabirds not one of Wales' greatest natural resources anyway?
After such a dreadful winter this survey needs to continue.

This ongoing research has already provided many answers to very significant biological questions, the more time spent on long term studies such as these is vital to understanding how populations change over time and would be of much use as additions to research on how global warming and changing climates impact long term population dynamics.

Please reinstate funding for this valuable project. Sea birds have been badly effected by the winter storms and we need to gather all the information we can on these birds.

Come on NRW - this research should have already started for 2014 - don't waste your 20 years of investment gaining valuable insight into environmental impacts on the guillemots and the wider ecology of the UK.

The bird deaths being reported due to this years adverse weather you wouldthink that this data would be ias important to Natural Resources Wales as to any other any organisation.

Do you have any notion of how valuable such a long running, and continuous, data set, is in demonstrating the impact of climate change. And to cancel for such a derisory amount is a major mistake. Please reconsider this decision urgently.

Long term environmental datasets are essential but vanishingly scarce. NRW is, at best, being hopelessly naive to remove funding for this work.
