While I do not have a Chatham High School swimmer, Coach D is our summer swim team coach. Everything mentioned here is consistent with Coach D in the summer. He helps every child grow as a swimmer and helps them build confidence through racing. He’s incredibly kind and funny with the children. He is a true model for students/swimmers of all ages.

I’ve never had the pleasure of swimming with such a passionate and supportive coach and i’ve been on numerous competitive club teams since I was about 10 years old. Coach D is the face of Chatham swimming and has been done such a great job building the program. He’s influenced and motivated me as well as everyone else on the team currently and who’ve already graduated to keep pushing towards our goals, but to also enjoy the process while doing so.

Notwithstanding his incredible record, this Coach is such a positive influence on those that swim for him. The skills taught in high school are not just about a winning record, but the steps you take to get there. We all value those that encourage and help. Coach D is one of those people and to let him go not only teaches the wrong lesson, but deprives our students of the Coach they love and deserve.

Coach D has always been a large part of the Chatham Swim Team and a great influence over swimmers on and outside of his team. Please reconsider this termination.

Coach D has had a tremendous positive impact on my 2 swimmers both in and out of the pool. His belief in their potential and excitement for the team and the sport made our experience over the last four years amazing. I am so disappointed to think he will not be coaching my son next season. It would be such a loss for Chatham.

A truly unique man who has given so much to members he coaches. CT should be proud to have him as their coach.

This team could not be what it is without Coach D. He came in the same year I was a freshman and changed the team for the better. In my 10 years of swimming I never experienced a better coach. He is someone who pushes his team in the best way, whether they be club team swimmers or just high school team swimmers. His speeches are unmatched and his energy during a meet whether it was states or just a regular season meet made everyone feel excited to be on the team and in the pool. Getting rid of Coach D would be hard to imagine and I hope is reconsidered.

coach d had the largest impact on my life that any teacher/coach has ever had. He always was there to support you no matter what the issue was, and he made that clear to every swimmer every chance he had. Chatham swimming will not be the same without Coach D

I fully support Coach D, his philosophies and his successes with the Chatham Cougars. It would be a tremendous loss to the athletes were his tenure to be cut short over a repairable situation.

I urge the school board to intervene and reinstate Coach DiGiacomo. Not only is he one of the most successful swim coaches in the state of NJ, he is a fine and caring man who is a great role model for all students. It would be a huge mistake to terminate his employment over such a petty issue.

After back-to-back head coach turnovers and inconsistent coaching staff, our team was lucky and grateful to have Coach D join us in the fall of 2012. He had a level of charisma, energy and motivation that the CHS swim program hadn’t enjoyed in years. I look back fondly on what I learned from Coach D, as a swimmer, as a student and as a young leader. I hope his termination will be reconsidered. The Chatham swimmer program is stronger, happier and healthier because of Coach D’s hard work and unique talents. (Boys swim captain, class of 2013)
