I can't imagine why Lehigh would want to let her go, especially if an administrator saw the comments about her on this page. She is by far the best professor I've had not only in the marketing department but also at Lehigh.

Professor Gallant was truly one of, if not the most, impressive teacher that I had at Lehigh. She had a genuine interest in her students and always went above and beyond - advising me throughout the job search process. Nothing but positive things to say about Prof. Gallant.

Beth Gallant was one of the most impactful professors I had during my time at Lehigh, and I know I am not the only person to feel this way. To fire her would be a huge mistake and a tremendous loss for not only the Marketing Department, but the University as a whole.

I never had the opportunity to enroll in one of Professor Gallant's classes, however, I did have the great pleasure of meeting her on a field trip to NYC. From that day on, she took me under her wings and helped me make some of the toughest career decisions. Professor Gallant went above and beyond her duties as a professor and helped guide me as if I were her own student. This is a quality and trait that you don't find in many professors these days. To fire her would be a colossal loss for the entire Lehigh student body and community in large.

I met Professor Gallant during my first year at Lehigh. This happened to be my sophomore year as I had transferred in for the Fall 08 academic year. While I was fortunate enough to have a support system of existing friends and fellow transfers, one thing I was missing was that on-campus mentor who actually cared. I found myself talking to her after class and during office hours about my progress, what I should pursue in the Business School since I had lost so many credits transferring and many other things as well. She was one of my "Lehigh Moms". One of the main reasons why I declared marketing as my focus was so that I could take advantage of the marketing electives she brought to the program as they complemented the marketing core in such creative ways; The projects, the fieldtrips, though fun, had a point to them. Connections were made and rapports were established with various professionals across Pa and the tri state area. As graduating senior/ young alum she always went out of her way to make sure me and others were where we wanted to be. I unfortunately had an offer rescinded in the fall of 11 because of budget constraints and she spent a few good months chatting with me about networking opportunities I should pursue. While I ended up securing a job from a former employer it should stand out that even though I graduated, she still gave a crap. Its teachers like her that make alumni like me want to give back. I'm sure there are politics involved, as there always seems to be at Lehigh, but losing Gallant would be a massive hit not for just the program but for the Business school & Lehigh community as well.

If there is any professor at Lehigh who “gets it,” its Professor Gallant. During my time at Lehigh as a marketing major I had the great pleasure of being in three of her classes, and, without a doubt, those were quite possibly three of the most enjoyable classes I’ve ever taken. I strongly believe that Professor Gallant is a fixture within the Marketing department, Rauch Business School, and Lehigh community at large. One of the greatest things about Lehigh’s teaching staff is their innate ability to speak directly to each and every one of their students, and I can certainly attest to Professor Gallant’s mastery of this skill. She makes complex and real-world events easy to understand, and genuinely cares about how her teaching impacts those around her. While this skill and personal connection with students becomes more and more distant for many professors with increased tenure at Lehigh, Gallant’s strengths only increase with time. Bottom line – she cares about her students more than anyone could ever image – which is a testament that cannot be said of many other student/teacher relationships. She has been a guiding hand in my path to a bright career and I owe her so much for her time and dedication to her craft. I can only hope that Lehigh can feel the same way.

Are you kidding me? In 4 years at Lehigh, Professor Gallant was the best professor I had. I learned more about Marketing in one class with her then any other class at Lehigh. She is literally the reason why I ENJOY marketing. Instead of teaching us terms, ideas, and philosophies of how marketing is supposed to work she showed us hands on through activities how major brands set themselves apart from one another. This is absolutely ludicrous how it can even be CONSIDERED that she is fired. Truly shows how unbelievably clueless the administration at Lehigh is.

Beth was by a long shot my best professor at Lehigh. She took care to personally help any and all students and made it her mission to ensure they were successful after graduation. My Lehigh experience would not be the same without Beth, and Lehigh is making a huge mistake by firing her. I have serious concerns about the decision making skills and future of the marketing program and busienss school at Lehigh without Beth as a Professor.

Beth was a model student and my Residence Assitant (Gryfon) when I was a student at Lehigh, I also know her professionally, not only was she an excellent role model for students but an excellent marketer with real world experience in global organizations like Crayola. As a proud Lehigh alum and president of an advertising agency I am appaulled by this decision. This is a huge loss to t.he University .

Professor Gallant is one of the best professors Lehigh has ever had. I took part in the original petition for her the last time a few corrupt individuals at Lehigh made this mistake and the support was overwhelming. Over 800 students within four days signed the physical petition to support the impact Professor Gallant had, as well countless emails and phone calls from devoted alumni. She is the heart and soul of the marketing department and I feel sorry for the students that will not have the opportunity to learn from such an amazing professor.
If Professor Gallant parts ways with Lehigh it is our loss. As students, alumni, and supporters of Lehigh, we are the ones that are losing a part of what made Lehigh so special. We are losing a professor that truly cares about her students and helps them succeed because of what seems to be an unjust popularity contest among the Lehigh Board of Trustees.

Beth Gallant was one of my favorite professors at Lehigh--she challenged me, and introduced me to Consumer Behavior, a subject that I now want to make a career of. She deserves to stay at Lehigh and the students deserve to have her there to inspire them.

Reading all of these wonderful comments about Professor Gallant makes me wish I majored in marketing. She truly seems like a warm, caring professor who goes out of her way for her students' success and happiness. That's more than can be said for 60% of the other faculty/staff in CBE.

It's a shame to see that Lehigh doesn't appreciate Pofessor Gallant. As a 2012 graduate, I tribute a large part of my success in my Marketing & Advertising career to Professor Gallant. By far, I learned the most from her in my classes at Lehigh. It would be a shame to see her let go.

To: Lehigh University, College of Business and Economics Professors, Marketing Department, & to the Future President of Lehigh University,
Without a doubt the one quality that separates the different classes of Professors at Lehigh, and I am not talking, Economics vs Marketing or a 100 level course vs a 300 level course, I'm defining the classes of Professors in their prioritization of the shareholders of the University.
Some Professors work strictly for tenureship (that's their perogative), some work for the ability to acquire a Phd or Masters (nothing wrong with that either), but some work whole-heartedly for the student's first, putting the student's goals and wishes before themselves or anything else. This is the case with Professor Gallant and I really cannot fathom as to what is wrong with listening to a students wants, actually caring about them, and trying with all her might and will, to help their cause.
Professor Gallant also spearheaded elements of the Marketing Club and BCEC, constantly pushing the students to get that internship by giving us the real world skills necessary to acquire that job, through teachings that are not taught in a textbook or classroom.
Lehigh has always taught us to find a job you love and you will never work again, if this isn't the cruelest form of irony, I don't know what is, for no one LOVES LEHIGH and its Students more than her. In conclusion, although we students cycle through yearly, coming and going as just another name, face or LIN number, Professor's like Beth Gallant are few and far between. And it is but a testament to her skills as a Professor, Counselor, and a friend, the amount of alumni that are coming out of the woodwork to make sure our voices are heard on her behalf.
Sincerely,
Daniel Miggins
