We, the undersigned, respectfully call on the Government of Vanuatu and relevant authorities to recognize the urgent need for a third dedicated Country Liaison Officer for the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme, and to reinstate David Patunvanu to this critical role. We acknowledge the Vanuatu Government for their commitment in currently fielding in two (2) Country Liaison Officers serving in Australia and recognize the efforts of these two hard-working officers that are doing their best in this very demanding and very much needed space.

However, Mr. Patunvanu has demonstrated unwavering proactiveness, dedication, and a genuine passion for supporting Ni-Vanuatu workers in Australia. Under his leadership, many workers felt heard, protected, and properly guided throughout their PALM Scheme journeys. His experience, commitment, and strong relationships with stakeholders in both Vanuatu and Australia have been invaluable in ensuring the success of the program and the wellbeing of our people abroad.

Without a dedicated liaison officer like Mr. Patunvanu, the coordination, support, and representation of our workers is at serious risk. Bringing him back will not only strengthen our presence in the PALM Scheme but also restore confidence and morale among our Ni-Vanuatu workers and their families.

We urge the Government to:

  1. Reaffirm the importance of the Liaison Officer role.
  2. Reinstate Mr. David Patunvanu to continue his impactful work.

Let’s stand together to ensure our workers are supported and our voices are represented. Sign and share this petition today.
