I am now going into my senior year in high school and attended Mountain View Elementary School. I was fortunate enough to have both Mrs Kelson and Mrs Potente while I was there. I truly believe with the amount of help that they gave me while I was there on a daily basis is more than most teachers would. Firing these teachers is a mistake that you don’t want to make.

Mrs. Potente went above and beyond for my son. She not only looked out for his academic needs, but also his social and emotional growth. She took the time to get to know his interests to inspire him. My family and I are devastated by this news. She even met with my son after school to assist him with reading when he wasn’t even in her class anymore. She is such an asset to Mountainview School. She absolutely deserves tenure for her dedication, love of teaching, and her advocacy for students. Reinstate her.

Mrs. Kelson was my grandson's teacher in kindergarten last year. My granddaughter was in her class this school year. They LOVED being in Mrs. Kelson's class!! I was in her classroom on a weekly basis as a classroom volunteer. All of the students were fully engaged and thrived in Mrs. Kelson's lessons and activities. I am a retired public school teacher with over 30 years of experience. I know a great teacher when I see one. Mrs. Kelson has been teaching at Mountainview since 2016 and is teacher in good standing. A new principal came this year and recommended the non renewal of these fine teachers. WHY?! The principal was wrong. Her decision to fire Mrs Kelson was a huge mistake. Please renew her contract.

I’ve know these two women for many years and always thought they were hard working and dedicated teachers, along with being caring human beings. They have worked hard for many years and deserve to keep their jobs. I agree with the statements made by the members of the Mt. View community.

My daughter had Mrs Kelson in kindergarten. She is not only an incredible teacher who engaged the children and made learning fun but she is also a kind, compassionate teacher who was an example to others. To not bring Kelson and Potente back would be a huge loss my only for Mountain View but the many children who will not have the chance to be taught by them.

I am signing just for Mrs. Kelson, because we never had Mrs. Potente, so I can’t say anything about her. But there are a few more I would get rid of instead of these ladies. We loved Mrs. Kelson, in fact from all we had so far she is best one.

We absolutely love Mrs Kelson. All her students have flourished and truly enjoyed being in her class. She truly enjoys what she does and all her students love her. These are qualities that all teachers should have but sadly do not. Please reconsider...

As a parent and an educator myself I have never seen a teacher more dedicated than Mrs. Kelson. My son had her for kindergartner and with her he developed a true love for learning. Her passion and love was contagious and she embodies everything a good teacher should be. It is an absolute shame to not keep someone as incredible as Mrs. Kelson.

My son is in college over a year now and I don't even know what the issues are leading up to this article but I can tell you loosing Leslie Potente as a teacher would be a huge mistake. She is one of those teachers that has stood out for us over 20 years with exemplary dedication to her job and position with the children always!

I am a retired teachers aide from Mountain View School. I had the pleasure to work in the classroom with both Mrs. Kelson and Mrs. Potente. They are both caring, well qualified and hardworking teachers. Mrs. Potente gave her all for 15 years at Mountain View. I certainly hope that her ability to adapt to many different positions be considered an asset to any school. I hope Mount Olive doesn’t lose these two wonderful teachers.
