As parents, it’s our responsibility to ensure our athletes are well-rested and ready to participate safely and effectively. Regarding Coach Jewel Grossi, the accusations sound more like subjective interpretations than actual misconduct. Comments like “You were always going to be a backup” or “Your skills are getting worse” may be hard to hear, but honest feedback isn’t abuse. It’s a competitive sport. If your child is struggling with skills or placement, maybe the next step should be investing in private lessons—like many of us do—rather than blaming the coach for not handing out spots based on feelings instead of performance. Coach Jewel’s role is to select the best of the best, not to cater to personal expectations or spare egos. Your claims read less like concern for athlete welfare and more like retaliation because things didn’t go your way. Furthermore, if your child felt manipulated into a season or unable to stand up for themselves, isn’t that part of your job as a parent—to guide and empower them? This program is voluntary. If your child genuinely didn’t want to be here, there are ways to respectfully withdraw without publicly attacking a coach or a system that has benefited many. Honestly, the tone and nature of your statement seem more like bullying from an upset parent than a constructive complaint. Maybe it’s not just Coach Jewel who should be reviewed—perhaps the board should look into how we’re handling accountability and the expectations we place on both coaches and young athletes.

I have known Jewel for 20 years and her personality has always matched the positive things written in this petition. She takes so much pride in being a cheer coach and truly cares about the program and the girls she coaches. It is shameful that decisions were made before she was even able to give her side of the story. Jewel is the type of coach every parent should want for their child; someone supportive and encouraging who also has high expectations for her athletes. I really hope Jewel gets a chance to speak in front of the board - she deserves it!

If Jewel was so toxic, why are only you and a few other family's the only ones complaining? Jewel goes above and beyond for these children 24/7. I just wanted to take a moment to express how truly grateful we are for everything you do. You are, without a doubt, the best coach we could have ever hoped for, and it’s clear to everyone that there is retaliation against you because of incompetent parents whom have continued to return to the program year after year smiled in your face, and now want your place. We’ve witnessed other coaches deliberately over look girls or be “mean girls” to children yet they aren’t brought up or are hiding behind the husbands whom are creating this chaos due to their lack of personal efficiencies. Absolutely ridiculous and we all who have been here see through it all. From faking injuries to being unsupportive parents. Your dedication to these kids goes far beyond teaching routines and leading practices. You inspire them, support them, and help them grow—not just as cheerleaders, but as confident, kind, and hardworking individuals. The way you lead with both strength and compassion creates such a positive and encouraging environment, and it shows in how much the girls love being part of this team. It’s so clear that you genuinely care about each one of them—not just about their performance, but about who they are as people. That means the world to us as parents. You bring out the best in them and make them feel seen, valued, and empowered. That kind of leadership is rare and truly special. I met her several times, and she was incredibly sweet. I observed her helping others and being genuinely kind.

Retaliation and Emotional Abuse: o After expressing concerns, our child was removed from routines. o Both of our children have come home from practices and games in tears on multiple occasions. o They have been subjected to repeated belittling statements from Coach Jewel Grossi, including: ▪ “You were always going to be a backup.” ▪ “At this point, you’d be lucky to make the comp team.” ▪ “Your skills are getting worse; you’ll be lucky to make 14U.” o These comments were made to children aged 10–13 and have severely impacted their confidence and enjoyment of the sport. 2. Public Humiliation: o One daughter was called out in front of the entire team for yawning. o The younger sibling was then publicly complimented in a way that felt like an intentional comparison. Later, she said it “wasn’t even a real compliment—it was just to embarrass my sister.” 3. Inappropriate Communication Practices: o Each season includes a team group chat where Coach Jewel is the only adult present. This raises serious safeguarding and SafeSport concerns. 4. Manipulation of Athletes: o During a parent meeting for stunt season (which athletes were encouraged to attend), the coach became emotional and said if all athletes didn’t commit, the season would be canceled. o Our 10-year-old came home describing it as “manipulative” and felt guilty for not wanting to continue. Despite multiple athletes declining, the season went forward, proving the threat was false. 5. Impact on Athletes: o My 11-year-old, while reading the Code of Conduct, said, “The environment may be physically safe, but it’s not healthy.” o My 13-year-old texted asking to be removed from the program, stating she didn’t want one toxic coach to ruin her favorite sport during her final year. Jewel is, without a doubt, the best coach for these kids. What sets her apart is that she genuinely cares, not just about performance, but about each child as a person. She consistently goes above and beyond, whether it’s staying late to offer extra help, cheering the loudest from the sidelines, or simply making sure every kid feels seen and supported. I’ve been to many sports and activities across the area, and I haven’t come across another coach with her level of kindness, patience, and heart. She’s truly one of a kind.

To the Board Members, Jewel has been a cherished friend of our family for many years. She has always gone above and beyond to support not only us but countless others in the community. What’s worse, it felt more like targeted bullying than responsible governance. The threats and accusations made against her were baseless and deeply damaging, and the board’s response only compounded the harm. It is painful to witness someone who has given so much to this program and this community be treated this way. It also raises serious concerns about how other matters are being handled behind closed doors. We owe it to our students, our families, and our values to do better. Please reconsider your decision and reinstate Coach Jewel. She deserves fairness, respect, and the opportunity to continue making the positive impact she’s always made.

I fully support the reinstatement of Coach Jewel, who has been nothing short of incredible for our cheer program. Her leadership, dedication, and genuine care for her athletes have brought tremendous growth and positivity to the team. It is deeply unfair and disappointing that she has been let go based on false accusations that do not reflect her character or the impact she has made. It's hard to ignore the troubling pattern that this decision may be rooted in racial bias — particularly because she is a strong, Black woman in a leadership role. I had the pleasure of meeting Jewel many years ago. She was my daughter’s first cheer coach. Every single interaction we have had with her has been warm and welcoming. We have since moved and joined another cheer team and Jewel goes out of her way to say hi to my daughter and I at games and competitions. Sometimes I’m not even around but she’ll find my daughter, give her a big hug, and wish her good luck. I can’t tell you how much that means to a growing girl. For her to see someone who knew her a long time ago still goes out of her way to support her is huge. Jewel is 100% what you need in a coach. In fact, if you could copy and paste her a few times you guys would be unstoppable. Shame on these parents for turning this into a big deal. Especially anonymously. Stand up & say it or sit down and be quiet. It takes a huge amount of passion, time, and energy to be a part of an organization like this. She’s poured her heart into this program and this is the thanks she gets. Disheartening to say the least.
