As a resident/patron of Freeport, New York, we want to share our opinion and open letter posted to the community....
Not in our backyard! Not in our backyard! The all too familiar battle cry of Long island. By suspending Bracco's Clam Bar's Liquor License what has been done is weaken an already struggling seasonal waterfront area. Take a good look around, there are too many vacant properties already on the mile. The largest business on the mile will now have to cut jobs, cut food & beverage deliveries, and cut all entertainment. Call it the trickle down effect, not good.
Say what you will, but this establishment has always brought the most people to the mile, is one of the few that stay open in the winter and is consistent with always something for everyone with a clientele of boaters, familys, kids etc.
They take innovative business decision risks, they are leaders and not followers and are a true genuine family that does the best they can to control their atmosphere. They have many friends and strong ties to the community. No business is perfect, but to single out Bracco's just makes no sense. Without them, your just hurting the village in the long run.
This petition is for the purpose of reinstating the liquor license and allow the Bracco's Family to continue to help the Nautical Mile thrive.

As a frequent patron of the establishment, I can honestly say that the events surrounding 50 Cents appearance were highly unusual for Bracco's. My experience is that it is professionally run place that caters to a wide clientele and provides a safe & fun setting !
My friend is resident dj there during the summers. Something like this has never happened there before. 50 cent attracted a rougher crowd, a larger crowd than braccos was or could be prepared for, their only fault was having someone draw too many patrons!
Can you blame the patrons for edging 50 cent to perform. How can you stop him. I live in Long Beach and I know that It's difficult enough to cover all your expenses with only a 3 month season. Plus, Freeport taxes are astronomical.
My youngest son 15 years old got his first job there this summer and had a great experience there for a first job. They are like a family. It's not the fault of Bracco!s that this happened. It's stupid people doing stupid things.
This is a successful family business that has for years contributed to the success of the Nautical Mile. Their business affects the livlihood of many employees and their absence will leave a vacant hole in an area that is already struggling.
Give them their license back or take away all of them
To shut them down is crazy !!!!! We need businesses like this to keep the town going

Bracco's hires many people from Freeport, now these employees are out of work, that's how they would support themselves and families, what does the Mayor say to that? Reinstate the liquor License before these families wind up on welfare.
