an art education is important for all developing minds. Just because a child uses colored pencils or is given a paint and a brush does not = an art curriculum. a licensed art educator is needed in all schools.

This was clearly a hasty, misguided(at best) decision, one that needs to be overturned immediately. Aurora is a valued member of our school and community, and must be reinstated without delay.

Ms. Aurora is an absolutely incredible teacher and artist and by far one of the most caring and trustworthy people in the school. As a student at Newton I have personally seen the way she cares for everyone and not only that but the fact that she is simply one of the best teachers who I have learned so much from in the past few years. I would be overjoyed if she was able to come back to the school to continue her amazing work as our art teacher.

My grandchildren attend Newton. We need to show the same openness and tolerance we hope to teach our children. There is a very ill wind of puritanical intolerance blowing in our culture and we need to face up to it.

Has that parent never taken her children to Museum of Fine Arts in Boston? And, what is the matter with the School Board? Reinstate this teacher!

I am shocked that the supervisory board would fire an art teacher for having nudes in their portfolio! Or abruptly for licensing issues without attempting to rectify the situation. Our school needs solid, consistent teachers who connect with the students and Aurora is that person. Reinstate her now.

This sounds more like something that might happen in FL, not VT, and especially not in Strafford. Please reinstate Aurora.

Are we to believe Aurora was hired lacking licensing and then fired solely for lack of licensing and dismissed immediately? Really? The annual art show at Barret Hall makes clear that Aurora is an excellent and joyful teacher, who will be sorely missed.

This is an outrage! What Aurora creates in her PERSONAL art career is her prerogative. I have followed her beautiful artistic world & she should not have been terminated for anything she created.

An anonymous parent? Who?! If they have the intent to ruin a person''s livelihood, they should have the courage to be identified. This is not Texas!

Shame on the school board. Aurora is an excellent teacher and it is unbelievable to me that some coward can affect the job of someone as obviously qualified as she is.
