Reignite the Fun: Fix Guns of Glory
"Guns of Glory" is a game that many of us have grown to love. For a lot of us, it’s more than just a game; it's a lifestyle. We’ve formed friendships that have become like family. Over the years, there have been many changes—some for the better, and some for the worse. Lately, the changes have been mostly for the worse. As avid players, we have come together to voice our concerns and share what we would like to see for the future of Guns of Glory. Below are our main concerns, issues, and potential solutions:
1. **Frequency of Major Updates:**
The speed of major updates, such as those involving gems, guard weapons, airship parts, etc., is too fast. We suggest shifting these updates to every two months. Releasing new items every month is discouraging and causes many players to leave the game; it feels like a constant uphill battle. If monthly updates must continue, we recommend making every other update free to obtain through engaging events that don't involve spending. This would encourage more player involvement and show that you value your community.
2. **New Events:**
While we would love to see new events, they need better testing before being released. The number of issues with new events has become excessive. Older events also need optimization and reworking to fix persistent bugs and glitches. Additionally, all events should have clear instructions. Many events are introduced with little to no information on what to expect or how to participate.
3. **Customer Support:**
Customer support is nearly non-existent. The current customer support interface is confusing and unclear, and many of us have had poor experiences with it. We ask for a rework of the customer support UI, with clearer directions on how to get the help we need.
4. **Migration:**
While the idea of migration is great, it could be optimized for a better user experience. We suggest reducing the cost of migration. Many players have already invested significant time and money in their accounts and should not be penalized if their kingdom has become inactive. Guns of Glory should also take some responsibility for maintaining player retention. Additionally, we suggest limiting the castle troop tiers allowed to migrate to a kingdom. For example, if a kingdom's highest castle is C47 (T13s), C49 or C50 (T14s) should not be able to migrate there. This would prevent high-level players from moving to weaker kingdoms just to dominate them. A further suggestion is to allow the king or former king (if no current king) to approve the application of any castle C44 and above. This would help prevent strong players from moving to peaceful kingdoms to cause chaos and also prevent random players from taking limited spots, making migration more enjoyable and the price more reasonable.
5. **Kingdom Conflict Update:**
The new Kingdom Conflict update has been poorly received. The ancient cities cost too much stamina and healing speed to conquer, and the Flame Raid portion is unevenly matched and dull, with too much time between stages. Reducing the number of opponents has made it less eventful. We suggest reverting to the previous version and increasing the number of opponents to six or more. Additionally, the cost of healing during raids is too high, and if a player is "zeroed," they are out for the whole weekend unless they can afford to buy back their troops. This prevents participation in alliance events. We also suggest increasing the number of raid coins an alliance can purchase, as the current limit does not account for the cost of high-tier troops.
6. **Wonders:**
We suggest making the ancient city wonders permanent and revamping the older wonders. The older wonders have been around for years and are now obsolete compared to current game statistics and gameplay.
7. **Additional Suggestions:**
- **Alliance Mine Size:** Increase the size of alliance mines, as they run out quickly with new airships. Consider making the resources unlimited, allowing alliances to switch to new resources as needed.
- **Strategy Center:** Update the Strategy Center with more relevant strategies and increase the percentage boost for existing strategies, such as building, gathering, and research, which take much longer now than they did years ago.
- **Alliance Research:** Introduce new alliance research with updated statistics to reflect current gameplay, as the current research is outdated and offers minimal benefits.
- **Alliance Membership Limit:** Increase the alliance size limit from 100 to 200 members. This would allow players to maintain at least one farm without needing to remove members for KvK and other events, and would also support those using the goods exchange.
- **Goods Exchange:** Add more items to the goods exchange, such as training speed-ups, regular speed-ups, star flakes, manuscripts, and troop gear materials, to support player growth across all levels.
- **Spirit Mines:** Increase the rate at which crystals are gathered in the spirit mines to match the higher costs and new items available in the store.
- **Alliance Spending Rewards:** Revise the rewards system for alliance spending to include more valuable items, such as gold and higher quantities of speed-ups and resources. This would help players who do not spend as much grow more effectively through the spending of others.
8. **Current Events, Gameplay, and Rewards:**
- **Night Siege, Red Guard Raid, and Tormentor Raid:** These events feel dragged out and more like a chore than a fun activity. They start off engaging but quickly become repetitive.
- **Night Siege:** Needs a revamp with much better rewards to keep players engaged.
- **Tormentor and Red Guard Raids:** Should not be 2-hour events; the duration needs to be reduced.
- **Underworld:** Needs higher levels to provide more challenge and engagement.
We suggest increasing the rewards for these events. Many require an excessive number of runs to achieve any meaningful upgrades. For example, the highest level of Underworld gives 90M Mediterranean metal, but even the guard weapons released nearly two years ago require 10 times that amount to upgrade, and the current ones require over 100 times that amount.
9. **Hall of Heroes:**
Recent additions have been made, but there is still room for optimization. Allow more items to be sold for hero coins, and revamp the store to remove obsolete items and adjust prices. Additionally, the amount of bounty parcels given out in events should be increased to match the ability to sell more items.
10. **Catacombs and Creation:**
These areas have not been updated in years, if ever. Consider adding more levels and statistic boosts for completing new levels to align with the significant increase in stats since their initial release. Enhance the ability to earn more coins for the store and allow more of the old items, such as guard weapon scrolls and airship scrolls, to be purchased.
11. **KvK.**
During KvK, when conquering other kingdoms, we suggest allowing the option for conquered kingdoms to retain their crown for the entire duration of KvK, rather than just a 2-hour window. Many battles do not conclude within the current time frame, which can create challenges and frustrations for players.
12. **Guard Constellations.**
The current cost of adding constellations to guards is quite high, and it is concerning that after a few months, these constellations and guards often become obsolete. This creates a significant burden on players who invest their resources, only to find that their investments quickly lose value. We propose introducing a feature that allows players to recover a percentage of star flakes by dismantling older guard constellations. This would help maintain a sense of value and progression for players, reduce frustration, and promote long-term engagement with the game.
13. **Optimization of Drill Grounds:**
The Drill Grounds interface feels outdated and challenging to use when setting marches. It needs to be optimized for a better user experience. We recommend adding a "deselect all" option for marches, as manually sliding each troop tier to zero is cumbersome and time-consuming. This adjustment would significantly improve usability and reduce frustration when organizing marches.
With the introduction of new ships, we now have more capabilities but are still limited by the number of customizable march slots. To better utilize these new ships and enhance gameplay, it would be beneficial to add more march slots to accommodate the expanded fleet. This improvement would align the Drill Grounds with recent game expansions.
As we review this list, it has become clear that while the game frequently receives new updates, many parts of it are still neglected.
We also urge you to improve communication between developers and players. Providing more transparency on upcoming changes, and taking feedback into account before implementing significant updates, would go a long way in building trust and ensuring player satisfaction.
Until we see positive changes that benefit the entire player base, and not just the top 1% of high spenders, we will be boycotting spending and KvK events. We hope you take this feedback seriously to create a fairer and more enjoyable experience for all players.
