Ms. Winnitt, was a delight to see every morning and afternoon. To our children(BLCS parents) she was a pillar of someone who gave respect and remained professional. She was a constant and to me the best school leader in all of my years of schooling, which includes a bachelors degree, because not only was she personable she remained encouraging. This administration should be thankful to have had her, because of all of the schools she could have been in, she took a chance on us. It's important for us to stand with her now as she did greeting everyone through snow, rain, and screaming first day, second day...or fifteenth day (in some cases) jitters.

I have been at BLCS for the past three years and have experienced a very high turnover of leadership and staff members. It is a very uncomfortable
feeling, when uncertainty, keeps lingering. In the best interest of this learning community, inconsistency has emotionally traumatized scholars, teachers and parents. Stacy has proven to be a strong leader, who have implemented many positive changes, that have impacted the learning environment in a positive manner. Letting Stacey go, would only heighten the fear and distrust in the consistency of our community and institution

The Board is really doing a disservice to the scholars and faculty of BLCS. As many of the other people have stated, there was a sense of community when you entered the school during this past school year. We don't know all the ends and outs of why the Board has chosen to terminate Ms. Winitt, but we (the scholars and families) are the ones that will suffer from this constant turnover of principal leadership. I don't know what the Board is looking for, but you have to give the person that wowed you during their interview more than one year to prove themselves. From the perspective of many parents, she was doing a great job, so the Board needs to reconsider and let her continue to carry out the positive change she has implemented. Board members, if your child does not attend BLCS, you need to listen to all the voices of parents that have made a statement about Ms. Winitt.

I agree with all previously stated comments regarding Ms. Winitt. Staff seemed happier and more supported under her leadership. The school was beginning to manifest a cohesive culture (which is what first attracted me to the school). I think it is unfair have scholars, staff and families in a state where leadership is annually overturned, especially if the only ground is that of personality. If she hasn't done anything egregious and/or illegal, she should be given another opportunity.

I had many interactions with Ms.Winitt and found her to be a true professional in every way. I could always count on a quick response to any email inquiries from her no matter the topic. I think that she coordinated and hired some really great staff this year (ex: Ms.Garcia).
Please reconsider hiring her as the school really needs some stability.

Stacy Winitt was an amazing leader! I always felt so welcomed and comfortable walking into BLCS everyday. I do hope that Stacy Winitt is reinstated to the BLCS community. She has done so many things to improve the school community. It would be a real shame to let her go.

I hope that Stacy Winitt will be reinstated for the sake of our community. In order for the school to improve we need the same leader. Re-inventing the wheel every year (or twice a year) with a new principal is counterproductive and does not give our scholars the education we promise them. Stacy was steadily improving our culture and achievement and starting from scratch next year will set us back and likely jeopardize our charter.

Ms. Winitt was the best administrator that I had the pleasure of working for. She was organized, relayed clear expectations, provided actionable feedback and recognized the fact that although we were teachers, we are human beings first. I always felt genuine warmth from her whenever I approached her with any issue and I think that she was an extremely valuable asset to Bronx Lighthouse Charter School.

I had the privilege of visiting BLCS as a prospective hire while Ms. Winitt was the principal there. Walking into the building, I had heard from other teachers and organizations that BLCS was not a place I should be interested in working -- high turn over of teachers and admin made it a place that others labelled "toxic." Walking into Ms. Winitt's school, I saw none of these things. I saw happy, productive students, a tight knit staff, and a well run school. I do not know all of the circumstances behind Ms. Winitt's dismissal. But as an outsider to the school, seeing the way Ms. Winitt ran her school, I feel that BLCS is being entirely too hasty in letting a strong educator and advocate for students go.

Stacy Winitt made every decision with the best interest of each scholar in mind. She worked tirelessly to create systems that helped struggling scholars succeed, no matter how diverse those struggles were. Terminating Principal Winitt means that the scholars at BLCS will experience inconsistency, confusion, and a sense of abandonment. Stability and long term positive results take years of work, and with Principal Winitt gone there is no way BLCS can continue to work to achieve the goals that we have worked so hard as a team to establish. Stacy Winitt not only cared deeply for the scholars, but the community and staff as well. We must not forget that the scholars are the ones who will suffer the most for this decision made. Our students are deserving of the highest quality education and nurturing environment. To the Board of Trustees, please consider re-hiring Principal Winitt so that our scholars can return to their school in August to the safe, caring, and productive environment we are trying to continue to build.

Ms. Winitt understands curriculum and instruction; she is super-organized; and she is tough, but fair with both students and teachers. She is an exceptional principal and deserves to continue the amazing work she has been doing.

Though I am sure there is a lot of information that we don't know, no one should be terminated without a chance to improve, regardless of what your rights as a network are.

While we were told that there is data that supported this decision, there is also data that defends how the decision to terminate Ms. Winitt is wrong. Ms. Winitt led staff and scholars alike on a path of growth. She consistently challenged everyone in the building to do better. The task Ms. Winitt was given upon being hired last year was not an easy one and if I recall correctly, by the end of PDI, a strong bond was already being built. While many still had doubt, especially longstanding BLCS employees, there was hope. Not everyone in an organization will be happy with their leader. There will always be naysayers and those who feel that their personal situation reflects the situation of all. There will be those who don't want to put in the work or who are simply never happy. There are those who are just resistant to change and feedback and personal growth. Nonetheless, Ms. Winitt was a principal for all of her staff and MOST importantly, all of her scholars. Ms. Winitt's termination jeopardizes the school's future and adds another scar to the BLCS community of scholars and families.

We as a staff are dedicated to ensure that our scholars get everything that they deserve. Removing effective leadership will have a negative impact on their success within the next year. We are a work in progress. In one year, under the leadership of Stacy Winitt, we have developed a family that is dedicated to the overall success and achievement of all of our scholars. We have worked tirelessly to embrace the Engage NY curriculum, to increase student outcomes, to build relationships with both our scholars and their families, and to help our scholars believe that there will be stability in the future at BLCS. Many of us are extremely concerned in regard to the charter renewal which is set to occur this year. We believe that Ms. Winitt has the determination and drive to lead BLCS through this process in a smooth, effective manner. Her extensive experience and knowledge of the process of renewal is what we need to continue to grow BLCS to the institution that we know if can be. For the sake of our scholars, I implore you to reconsider this decision so that we can continue to build a positive culture for our staff and scholars together.

Ms. Winitt has done nothing short of a miracle this past school year. She has worked hard to bring up our scholars' test scores and push the staff to improve their craft.
